Got the exact same message saying:

"URGENT! We’ve been trying to reach you, it’s important to talk today. Please ring 0445715196 and quote reference 110997."

Contacted the Information Commissioner’s Office but they said there’s not much they can do. The person I chatted with mentioned the call is quite worrying, but the way it’s written means it technically isn’t covered by ICO rules. Honestly, it’s outrageous that this kind of thing is allowed. Loads of people might believe it’s genuine and call the number, only to be left waiting, nobody answering while the phone bill goes up. It’s a total rip-off.

Got a message from 07463587485 basically stating: "Attention: We've been trying to reach you... ref 110997." It's just one of those promo calls - if you ring back, they won’t pick up but your phone bill will show a huge charge for calling some premium rate number. Watch out for this sneaky trick!

Can anyone tell me who’s actually charging for this number? Just got a message saying they urgently need to speak with me and I should ring 0445715196, referencing 110997. If a bill shows up, surely the person sending the charges is the one committing fraud here. Everyone seeing this should band together and take action against whoever signed up this number. Flooding Ofcom with emails, and copying in MPs, might get things moving. Here’s a thought: whenever a message asks you to call a premium number, the sender’s full name and address should be shown clearly. That way, we know who’s behind it.

This number is definitely dodgy - everyone seems to get the exact same reference number, 110997. Why can’t the police or government sort these annoying calls out, just like they try with the PPI ones? You’d think it wouldn’t be too hard to block it if they really put their minds to it. Since the call has to pass through various exchanges before reaching you, there are loads of spots where they could stop it. Makes you suspicious, almost like they’re somehow protected or paid off.
