The ref number and phone number were exactly the same, definitely some kind of scam going on.

I got caught out by this one and ended up waiting on the line for about 15 minutes. Feels like it must be against the law somehow. No idea where they found my number from either. Anyone know who I should report this to?

Proper daft move on my part. I called that number before even looking it up on here. Got all worried and contacted my mobile network, O2. They looked it up and said it’s some sort of agency doing work for other firms. For me, it was linked to Car Phone Warehouse. I got off easy this time, but I won’t be falling for it again. These things could end up being a really expensive slip-up!

I only bothered to call back because the 192 at the end made me think it was BT about cancelling an engineer visit I've got scheduled for tomorrow.
When I phoned, I got the usual “all operators are busy, please hold” spiel over and over. What a waste of time.

Someone rang me from 08445715192 saying there was an urgent message they’d tried to get through with. Honestly, the phone companies ought to be keeping an eye out for calls like this and stopping them before we even get bothered.

Just got a message with the same quote reference as well. Since I hadn’t heard from anyone, I didn’t bother calling back. I looked up the number online and landed on this site.

About two hours back, I got the same sort of message. Honestly, it’s a relief that a few of us know how to look up the number properly. It’s awful thinking about older or vulnerable people getting tricked by these fraudsters. I reckon it’s all down to the loads of apps we install on our phones that grab our info. I never had this bother before I switched to an android phone! Nowadays, I get annoying calls and texts like this all the time.

Honestly, just don't ring them back. They do everything to keep you talking for ages. It’s one of those premium number things, so they can bill you up to £2 a minute. Total scam, I’m gonna report it to the cops.
