I’m so sick of these scammers trying to drain my bank account. I’ve blocked every number they used, but now they’re ringing me from withheld numbers. I’ve had about 10 calls in under 10 minutes, it’s driving me mad. Told them what I think of them, but won’t repeat it here!

Got a call claiming to be Halifax about a payment that was supposedly declined, they told me to call them back. I just ended up hanging up and deleting the number.

This number has called me three times, each time leaving a voicemail about some kind of fraud. The messages are frustratingly incomplete, cutting off in the middle. It’s a bit of a nuisance to delete those three separate voicemails at different times during the morning. Luckily, my phone sends these calls directly to voicemail, so I don’t actually have to answer them.

Got a text from this number warning my device was logged into my accounts. Said to call them on that number if it wasn’t me. Watch out, they mentioned stuff about my bank and cryptocurrency.

Got a call at our landline asking if we tried to make a payment that was declined or something like that. When some automated voice told me to press buttons to sort it out, I just hung up straight away. Earlier that morning, around 6am, we got a text saying the same thing. I checked with Halifax through their chat and also used their internal messaging thing to double-check, and they confirmed there’s nothing wrong with the account or cards. Turns out, it wasn’t Halifax calling at all… so I reckon we’re safe for now.

This felt like a total scam to me. I got a message late one night from 07401216992 claiming to be Halifax, saying they’d blocked a payment on my card ending in the last four digits to Whirlpool Canada LP for £0.00. They wanted me to confirm if I’d authorised it or not. The timing was sus - it was so late, probably hoping I’d be tired or that the bank would be shut so I couldn’t check. I rang Halifax the next day and they told me they don’t send texts from mobile phones. Anyone saying they do here is probably just a scammer or bot trying to make this look legit.

This looks dodgy to me. Got a text from a number my phone showed as Halifax, with old legit messages asking if I made a purchase (which I didn’t). I looked up the reference and it was some Japanese travel agency (I’m nowhere near planning a trip to Japan anytime soon). Then I had 3 missed calls from that number, and the voicemail used my full name with middle name too. When I called back, the bloke had a strong Japanese accent and asked me to confirm my full name. I just ended the call. Checked my online banking and no alerts or messages there.

Somebody rang me claiming to be from the Halifax fraud dept. I just ended the call and rang the number on my card instead. They told me they hadn't tried to contact me about my account at all. They said I did right by calling them straight away and told me to block that number.

When I put in the three-digit code for my card, it wouldn’t go through, then this number showed up. They said there was a £19.99 payment declined on my card, so I called. On 29th Dec, 03330459572 rang me 4 times. I never pick up numbers I don’t know, so my answerphone always picks up. All 4 messages claimed to be from Halifax Bank, but they were cut off which seemed odd. The message said someone was attempting to use my debit card and to press any button to continue. Halifax would NEVER handle it like that. If there’s ever a suspicious transaction, they send a one-time code to confirm. Totally a scam. I just ignored it and haven’t had any calls since. No issues with my debit card.

I then tried the Halifax number from my online banking but couldn’t get through, told there was about an hour wait. Looks like they’re swamped because of this scam. Bit odd with the Bank Holiday coming, since folks might not be keeping a close eye on their spending.

I got a call from Halifax fraud dept after I tried loads of times to add credit to my hubby’s phone with no luck. Turned out it was all above board.

Someone said they were from Halifax, asked for my date of birth and I gave them the last 4 digits of my card. I looked at my online banking and there’s nothing unusual, so I reckon it’s just a complete scam.

Someone called saying they were Halifax, saying they was checking for fraud on my account. I rang Halifax properly and they told me it wasn’t them at all! Don’t trust those positive reviews here, they’re rubbish - hang up straight away and contact Halifax using their official app to be safe.
