I found out the hard way that these calls just keep on coming unless you hit a certain key when they ask you to. But as soon as you do that, you might be sharing info that could put you at some risk. It's better to just let the phone ring and not respond to those prompts.

If you think it might be legit, ring your bank directly using the number on the back of your card - they’ll confirm it for you. Don’t press any buttons or reply to their messages, ’cause that’ll just let them take money from your account. Best to contact Halifax yourself, not by calling the number they give you. Sometimes they’ll try emailing too, but don’t do anything unless you’re the one actually using your card.

This number is for the legitimate Halifax fraud dept. I was a bit wary with all the scams going around, so I called the number on the back of my card first to double check. Would recommend doing the same if you’re not sure! The fraud team spotted my card had been cloned and stopped a transaction from another part of the country. The fraud team at Halifax were really supportive, said they’d cancel the card and refund me straight away. This is a genuine number from Halifax. I got a text saying there had been some suspicious activity on my account and they had blocked a payment of £88. The message asked me to reply YES or NO to say if I had made the payment or not. I then called the number on the back of my debit card, and they confirmed it was really them who sent the text and that someone did try to take £88 from my account. This is a total scam. They took £35 from my bank, showing up as VODAFONE ECOMMERCE NEWBURY. After that, I got calls from a robo voice asking to confirm info. Just to clear up, please disregard the message that starts with "called 5 minutes ago" below. That call was actually from Halifax. Someone cloned our card and was trying to use it somewhere else without us knowing, so I called it a "scam" by mistake. Sorry about that. But there are still scams out there pretending to be Halifax, showing their numbers on your phone screen to look legit, so some calls that seem genuine might be dodgy. Best to be careful. If you’re unsure, always ring Halifax directly using their official contact details.

Got a call about 5 mins ago and seemed pretty legit at first. Then the actual Halifax number rings back and tells you to contact halifaxiscam. Bit confusing!
