Got a call from someone saying they were from Bank of Scotland fraud team. Turns out there was a dodgy payment tried on my account but luckily the bank had already blocked it. I rang them back via the app, and they sorted me out by cancelling my card and sending a new one.

This morning I checked my work phone and saw loads of voicemails from this number. They kept saying they were calling from Bank of Scotland about a "recent transaction you said you didn't do." Problem is, I don't have an account with them and I’d never use my work phone for personal bank stuff. Pretty obvious it’s a scam, so I’ve put the number on my block list now.

I didnt pick up my landline when this number called me, but they tried ringing me like 4 times yesterday. It was a womans recorded voice, and it actually sounded pretty legit. Watch out!!! They mentioned something about a distant cousins account card getting used incorrectly and told me to press any button on my phone.

There’s a couple of posts here that explain what you need to do if you want to put a stop to scammers ripping off vulnerable people and pestering the rest of us. It does need a bit of commitment, but I’ve been reporting scam calls and texts to the police database for ages (got the link saved in my bookmarks). The sad truth is it’ll take thousands of reports before any real change happens. Loads of folks are filing these reports daily on this site though. Don’t expect instant results, but if no one bothers, these scams will just keep going without any check.

BEWARE OF SCAMS! If you get dodgy calls or messages, make sure you report them to the police fraud site straight away. Just Google ‘action fraud’ and head to the official ‘police.uk’ website. There you’ll find a page called ‘report a phishing attempt’ - have a proper read through all the guidance before you fill out the details. Make sure to add any links or website info you got. You don’t need to sign up or give personal info unless you’ve lost money to the scam. The police can only track these criminals if loads of us report these dodgy attempts, so don’t ignore them!

I got a recorded message earlier saying it was from the bank of Scotland’s fraud team. They said it was about my daughter, even said her full name! Apparently her debit card had been used. They told me to press a button to answer some security questions. Honestly, it sounded pretty real and could trick loads of people. Watch out for this one.

This morning I got a couple of texts claiming my MBNA card had been charged. Shortly after, I got a call from this number with an automated voice telling me to ring them back about potential fraud on my MBNA account. Trouble is, I don't even own a MBNA card. Got a call from this number today, which was already marked as possible scam so I blocked it right away. Later on, they left a voicemail asking me to ring them back. I've had a similar experience recently. Received a text notifying me that my card had been used in a rather unusual location. They wanted me to ring back, but guess what? When I tried, they claimed to be "too swamped" to take my call. After hanging on for about five minutes with no response, I decided I'd had enough and hung up.
