I had a rather dodgy call claiming to be from HSBC’s fraud department. They attempted to convince me that their number was quite close to the one printed on my bank card.

They were after my one-time secure password, but I wasn’t having any of it! I promptly ended the call and reached out to the genuine HSBC straight away, and they’ve since frozen my card for good measure.

Got a call from someone pretending to be my bank right after someone tried to mess with my card. They began talking about some more fraudulent activity happening, then started pushing for my bank info and login stuff. Yeah, no thanks. They rang me a few times after that too.

Got a call from someone pretending to be Richard Parker from Lloyds bank fraud team. They mentioned my future mother-in-law’s name and my phone number, claiming it was linked to the account. He also knew my name and even rattled off the last 4 digits of her card. Tried to get more info, but since my number isn’t tied to any Lloyds account, it was an obvious con. Felt dodgy right from the start.

Got scammed by someone pretending to be from my bank. They knew so much about my account, it really threw me off. They tried charging stuff to Amazon, Argos, and even some dental firm before moving money outta my account. Can't believe I actually fell for it! They made it seem so legit, like it was really my bank calling.

I just had a rather suspicious call from 03457404401, where the person on the other end claimed to be from the NWB Fraud Department. He introduced himself as Christopher Nelson and mentioned something about a direct debit established in Peterborough for a wedding-related business. He seemed extremely convincing, saying he was merely there to assist me. However, when I informed him that I would reach out to my bank to verify who he was, he promptly ended the call.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from First Direct, telling me there’d been two big withdrawals from my account. I called my bank straight away and they said nothing had been taken. Told that muppet to get lost. Don’t fall for their tricks, these lot deserve to be locked up properly for ages.

Somebody called saying they were from Nationwide bank, sounded like they knew everything about how Nationwide works. They managed to get all my cash. I'm absolutely gutted!! BE WARNED, DO NOT PICK UP THIS NUMBER!

Beware of HSBC scams.

They may reach out to you requesting your username and then attempt to reset your account password by prompting you to produce a one-time security code.

Once they have that, they could easily alter your password and seize complete control over your account.

I got a call from someone claiming to be Vodafone, but the line was awful and I couldn’t really hear what they were saying. I rang Vodafone myself afterwards, and they said the number wasn’t theirs at all. So, I blocked it straight away. Watch out for this number: 03457404401!

Today, on Christmas Eve, my 84 year old mum got a call from someone pretending to be from HSBC, saying her card was used fraudulently and £500 was taken in the Liverpool area. It really got her worried and upset. When she rang me, I quickly saw it was a scam. Just to remind everyone, HSBC’s official fraud number is 03457404404, not the one these scammers use. Definitely a dodgy call!

This morning I got a call about some dodgy activity on my iPhone account, but I wasn’t having it and just hung up straight away. Then, they rang again from another number, 0800 917 9170, claiming it was really Santander. I gave them a proper telling off, telling them off for being shameless and about karma, not even letting them get a word in before slamming the phone down. I decided to call back the first number myself - I like to mess with them a bit, this ain’t the first time - but it said number not recognised. The second number did connect me to a Santander voicemail, and I felt terrible, thinking I might’ve been rude to a genuine worker. So I contacted Santander directly, and they told me there’s nothing suspicious going on with my account and both numbers aren’t theirs. The voicemail was fake too. It’s frightening how sneaky these scammers are getting, preying on people, scaring them to steal their info. It really makes my blood boil.
