Got a call from someone claiming to be HSBC fraud team. A couple things seemed fishy, but the biggest red flag was when they said they'd create a new account number and sort code for me. Then they asked me to move all my money over to it myself to "prove it was me" 😂 mad, really!

Had a call from someone claiming they were with my bank (HSBC) and they sounded really believable. They knew loads of personal stuff about my account and said I'd fallen prey to some fraud. The caller insisted I open a new account straight away to block a dodgy direct debit that was supposedly about to clear. I rang HSBC myself to check and it turned out to be a blatant scam. They even sent texts that looked legit. I’m pretty clued up with tech stuff but this one nearly got me.

Today, 31/08/2021 around 3:44pm, I got a call from 03457404400. The person on the line acted like they were trying to speak to my wife. They claimed there was an issue flagged on our landline linked to some HSBC fraud matter. I told them I was actually her husband, and then the caller said they wanted to run through some security questions. I answered that I’d prefer to ring HSBC myself to verify any problems. After that, the caller promptly ended the call.
