I received a voicemail that purported to be from the Bank of Scotland. They mentioned that they'd declined a card transaction and went on to reference the last four digits of my card, asking if I had carried out that particular payment. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

Your old card vanishes from any apps linked on your phone, and the moment your new card arrives, the banking app refreshes with the updated info. It’s quite clear that only your bank has the authority to do this, so let’s not mislead folks when their card might be at risk from fraudsters. If anyone ever asks for sensitive details like your account number, sort code, or card number, just end the call! Thankfully, they only need to confirm your address.

Absolutely bona fide fraud team from BOS! They don’t waste time asking for personal info; they just review the transactions for you to verify. If you spot anything dodgy and say “no,” they promptly cancel your card and send a shiny new one without needing to pry into your private details. Your old card is swiftly removed from any digital wallets you’re using, and once your replacement lands on your doorstep, your app updates with the new info automatically. Only the bank possesses the authority to make these changes, so let’s stop creating unnecessary panic when a card might be getting misused by fraudsters. If someone requests your personal details, it's best to hang up, but thankfully, they only confirm your address is correct and leave it at that.

Didn’t pick up since the number was unfamiliar to me, so I called Bank of Scotland’s fraud team myself and they said it was genuine 👍

Looks like a bank scam to me. Somehow they got access to my Apple Wallet and tried a payment which got declined. After that, I got texts pretending to be from Bank of Scotland’s anti-fraud team, followed by a voicemail. Normally, Bank of Scotland would send alerts directly through the app and then a text telling you to check the app, so this didn’t feel right at all. Definitely dodgy and a scam for sure.

I actually answered a call from the Bank of Scotland Fraud Dept from 03330459578. They never asked me for passwords, memorable info, or the 3-digit code on the back of my card (which, ofc, you should never share). They asked about some recent transactions and i just said which ones were legit and which weren’t. They cancelled my card, sorted a refund, and my new BoS card arrived yesterday, sitting right in front of me now. I wanted to make sure the card had come before writing this. Honestly, don’t believe people calling it spam if they haven’t even answered the call themselves.

This number is definitely from the Bank of Scotland’s fraud department. I think it’s genuine. Sometimes they ring just to double-check things. I was logged into my YouTube from somewhere else and bought a movie. They just wanted to make sure it was me who bought it. Honestly, nothing odd about it.
