I kept getting calls and texts from 03330459556 on both my mobile and landline. They were really pushy, claiming there was suspicious activity on my account and that a payment to South West Trains had been declined. Quite annoying and felt a bit like a scam.

I got a message claiming to be from Lloyds saying there was a payment made to Sky Bet and to reply yes if I made it or no to cancel. They said they'd call me in the morning to discuss it. I checked my banking app and there’s no record of any Sky Bet payment at all. I’ve gone ahead and blocked my card just to be safe. I’m pretty sure they’ll try ringing me tomorrow, probably to fish for my bank info. That’s exactly why I froze my account. Watch out, the number is just a mobile one and it never says it’s Lloyds for real.

Got two calls on my home phone earlier today. It was a recorded message for my missus saying there was an unusual transaction on her account and telling her to press a key to speak to the fraud team. I answered both times and told her to ring the bank straight from the number on her card, which she did. Turns out it was an AUTHENTIC call from Lloyds bank. A minor charge had appeared on her account, which they later removed. Just to be clear, this was a REAL call from Lloyds bank.

Every bank says they won’t ever call you about your account. So, I’d say this number is dodgy and probably a scam. If there was really a problem with your online banking, the bank would get in touch through your app or send a letter. Don’t ever reply to a phone call that claims to be from a bank - it’s most likely fake.

My husband and I have just received the exact same calls and text messages from this number, purporting to be from the Fraud Department of Lloyds. Strangely enough, they reached out to both our mobiles as well as our landline all in a short period of time! What’s particularly concerning is that they seemed to have details of a recent, legitimate transaction on my husband's debit card, which, coincidentally, had been flagged and blocked in his banking app by Lloyds. The calls even addressed my husband directly by name!

If you ring your bank to make sure the call is legit (like the post below says), the people at the call centre can tell if the bank’s really trying to get in touch and will either pass you onto the right team or sort it out. The call centre staff might not know all the different numbers the bank uses though. Even if the call centre says it’s a scam, that doesn’t always mean the number itself is dodgy. Fake calls using real business numbers are a big headache for companies and their customers.

Dont ever just ignore a call from your bank out of the blue. Always ring your bank yourself using the number on the back of your bank card to confirm if the call is legit. Banks call from loads of different numbers so it’s nearly impossible to tell if it’s really them or some scammer trying to nick your money. Also watch out for scammers leaving fake red warning reports here about real bank numbers to trick people into blocking them or reporting to '7726', which then flags the number as a scam for everyone on the network.

NOT A SCAM! I got a text from Lloyds saying a payment I tried to make to the fragrance shop was declined, then this number rang me from what they said was the fraud team. After reading all the comments calling it a scam, I was a bit doubtful, so I told the guy I'd hang up and call the number on the back of my card myself. Customer service confirmed the number was legit and said they’d ring me back in 5 minutes, which they did. Bit unnecessary this time, but I appreciate they’re careful about this stuff. Don’t listen to those calling it a scam - it definitely isn’t one.

The problem is loads of folks don't take the time to tell apart a scam call coming from a scammy number and one where scammers have faked a legit number. Because of this, some real numbers get blocked by mistake. I've found some of the comments in this 4 page thread pretty eye-opening.

On 28/9/2022 I dropped a message saying that after getting a first text from Lloyds, I got a second one from mobile 447723361922 which popped up as a scam number at first. But after checking my recent calls, turns out that text was really from Lloyds fraud dept. So yeah, it was a proper fraud alert and it ended up saving me heaps of cash.

If you're trying to find out about this number, definitely take a moment to read the last couple of pages of comments here. Just picking up when it rings won’t fool you - use your common sense after that. I’ve noticed quite a few scam warnings on real business numbers on this site, and some don’t really add up. I've received three calls where an automated voice claimed there was some sort of unauthorised action on my account. Well it’s really your choice, but I actually saw cash being wiped from my Lloyds account right in front of me. Got texts about payments I never made. Then Lloyds called, saying they’d spotted suspicious activity. I could’ve just ignored it and let them keep draining my account, or I could pick up and stop it. Funny thing is, when I answered, it was Lloyds who stopped all those dodgy transactions and cancelled my card. Sometimes these calls are legit, I mean why would scammers ring you to admit they’re stealing your money? I already knew that part.

The fraud team at Lloyds called, definitely a legit number. Today, my mum got a text from them because she was having trouble with contactless payments. She tried tapping her card 3 times in about 30 minutes. She went into the bank afterwards and they told her the number was genuinely from Lloyds.

That was Lloyds fraud dept. Legit number, no doubt. They messaged me to verify a debit card transaction, then gave me a ring. I looked it up here before doing anything, then spotted an unauthorised payment on my account. Rang them back and they’re sorting me a new card and refunding the cash.

It’s probably not Lloyds directly but their security team checking if you tried to do a bunch of payments. It’s best to prove it’s you and confirm if those tries were yours. I used a few different cards for one purchase and they freaked out, blocking it cos it looked dodgy. Better safe than sorry right?

It really was Lloyds TSB. Reading some of these comments made me worry it was a scam. But it wasnt. There had actually been suspicious activity on my account. If youre unsure, just ring your bank, but dont let these comments put you off - I might have done nothing if I listened to them!

this number phoned me on the 8th november (yesturday) and later that evening i discovered my xbox and smart tv had been compromised for ages. so if i was you, check your internet security as your info might’ve been sold. ive also had loads of smart phones hacked before, so i’d steer clear of using them like a smart card. just google how simple it is to hack one, you’ll likely want to ditch them. hope this helps anyone reading this later on.
