There was a missed call from this number on the 19th of October, but I chose not to pick up.

I’m going to report this to Action Fraud like someone mentioned. Just a heads up, if you call this number back just for a joke, you might get switched over to a premium line without realising it, so best not to risk it. Sadly, a lot of older or vulnerable folks get caught out by these scams. We all need to help put a stop to these dodgy scammers.

I reckon the one saying it's pointless to report scam calls to Action Fraud might actually be behind the whole scam, trying to put us off reporting. From what I know, police here in the UK do team up with cops abroad to tackle these fraud rings, but they need plenty of reports before they can make a move. So it’s important to keep letting them know every time you get suspicious calls.

Hey mate, how did your chat with Action Fraud go on Monday? I'm wondering what they plan to actually do, seeing as these calls come from spoofed Indian numbers using VOIP. You might want to check the Daily Mail piece on these scam gangs - it’s been brought up in the Commons quite a few times now. Best advice - just ignore and hang up, never press 1... total scammers.

I got a robo call claiming it was from HMRC about some fraud, threatening I'd be arrested if I didn’t act. They kept telling me to hit "1." I just knew it was dodgy and ended the call straight away. Honestly, it felt really invasive.

Got a call from some bloke saying he was from hnrc. When i asked him to prove who he was, he started getting all riled up and began threatening to take me to court. I’m definitely reporting this to the hmrc. He said he had all my info right there but couldn’t even answer simple questions about my tax return from last year. Total scam.

I got a call from this number at 11:13 in the morning, didn't pick up this round though. The last time I did, I ended up keeping them on the line for half an hour just for laughs! Honestly, this scam is so silly, I can't believe they think anyone would actually buy into it. We're not as daft as they must think!

Following up on my earlier comment, I reported the incident to Action Fraud, which was surprisingly quick once I found the right website. After that, the site offered a chance to notify the UK police’s central fraud unit in London too. I typically forward scam emails to them but hadn't known phone calls could be reported by email as well - I’ve just done that now. It’s definitely a good idea for anyone who gets these dodgy calls to report them so the authorities can focus on stopping them. And from what I’ve seen, they really do act on these reports.

Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC, saying there was fraud under my name. They insisted I press 1 to talk to their office, warning if I didn’t, a warrant would be put out and I'd be arrested soon! It was all a recorded message, no actual person on the line. Total scam - watch out for this!

From a dodgy little office in India, these scammers pretend to be HMRC agents and end up frightening around 10,000 people in the UK every single day. They convince folks that they owe back taxes and threaten them with arrest or jail if they don’t cough up right away. I've heard some poor souls have been ripped off to the tune of £20,000. There are also other groups running similar scams out of Ahmedabad.

If we want to put an end to scammers, everyone needs to report every single fraud attempt they come across - that means bogus phone numbers, emails, the lot - straight to Action Fraud. The police can act on it when there's enough info, even if it's sometimes too late for some victims. It's on all of us to help stop these criminals. Make sure you report scam calls here so others are warned, and also pass them on to Action Fraud. Seriously, don’t let yourself be discouraged from reporting. We all need to take responsibility rather than just hoping someone else will do it.

Just a heads up - if your landline rings and the caller says they're from HMRC and starts threatening you with court or jail time, or telling you to pay with vouchers, don’t engage. End the call straight away and make sure you inform HMRC about it. They can help get those scammers blocked from making more calls. Stay safe!

I picked up after a couple rings and straight away this recorded message started saying I was being checked out for some tax dodging. I just put the phone down. Saw something on Facebook about this scam a few days ago - they try to freak you out so someone maybe older coughs up cash. Total rubbish trick to scam folks.
