Calls and then disconnects before leaving any sort of message.

I received a rather outrageous call where they claimed I was involved in tax evasion, insisting I press 1 to get in touch with one of their so-called case officers regarding a supposed fraud case. What utter nonsense! It's absolutely laughable! I’m not even liable for taxes! This number simply cannot be a genuine HMRC line!

I got a letter from “Self Assessment, HM Revenue and Customs, BX9 19X” saying I owe HMRC money, and included this phone number. Everything looked pretty convincing, even a last bit warning about scams. But the letter was totally wrong since our accountants will be paying the full tax for 2019-2020 next January. I called the number, and it definitely isn’t HMRC. This is a proper dodgy scam that could fool people easily. I’ve blocked the number using BT Protect, so I won’t get calls from it again.

Got a dodgy call claiming to be from hmre. They said I owed money and if I didn’t pay up, arrest was coming. Just so you know, hmrc don’t ring you like that - they always send official papers through the post first. Pretty sure it’s a scam, so watch out!

Absolute scam! They go on about arresting you like that's ever going to happen. Honestly, they must believe we're all daft. It really worries me how many vulnerable folks might get caught out by these tricks. Watch out, everyone!

Got a robo call saying there’s a fraud investigation from HMRC and if I didn’t press 1 to deal with it, they’d come after me with arrest. Total scam, obviously.

I just got a call from 0300 200 3872. Has anyone actually tried pressing 17 when it rings? Wonder what would happen if you do.

Got a call from the same number as before, with the exact same message. They said it was HMRC and that I’m involved in fraud, warning I’d be arrested unless I pressed 1 straight away. There’s a bit of silence before the message kicks in, which might fool folks into thinking it’s just a silent call. This kind of thing would terrify anyone who’s not used to these scams, especially elderly people. It’s absolutely horrible and really mean-spirited. They rang me three times in one day recently, so I flagged it as dangerous 'cos I reckon it could genuinely scare some poor people.

This morning, I received a call from this number saying something about a tax probe against me. They didn’t bother to mention my name, just told me to press 1 to speak to someone. They warned me that if I didn’t, I’d have a warrant out for arrest. I double-checked with my bank, and even though the number seemed genuine at first, it turned out to be a proper scam. Don’t ring back or hit 1 if this 0300 200 3833 pops up on your phone.

Those tax fraud crooks really need sorting out, they’re everywhere. Wish we could just get the SAS to deal with these muppets! It was one of those automated calls, too.

Got a call from a number claiming to be HMRC, said there was a fraud case against me and to press 1 to speak to someone or they'd issue a warrant for my arrest. The number was 0300 200 3833. I got really worried and answered, spoke to someone named Stella Foster - she spoke so quickly it was impossible to follow. I kept asking her to slow down but she ended up just hanging up on me. When I rang HMRC myself, they said they only contact by letter if there’s an issue. Definitely a scam, so make sure you block that 0300 200 3833 number. Don’t fall for it!
