I got a call from someone who said they were from HMRC. When I mentioned I thought HMRC never actually call people, the guy, who sounded Scottish, hurriedly ended the call. Felt a bit dodgy to me.

This is clearly a scam. I consulted with my accountant who has confirmed it. Therefore, I will be reporting this matter to the police as well as informing HMRC.

I recently received a call from someone I didn't know. I immediately informed them that I had no connection with the individual they were referring to. It's worth mentioning that HM & Customs are an organisation geared towards making a profit, and they are entirely fraudulent. I never share my phone number with these individuals. Interestingly, there is actually no legal requirement to pay taxes. Furthermore, National Insurance is simply a hoax designed to repay a debt that the government owes, as calculated based on your birth certificate. It would be beneficial to acquaint oneself with the concept of Meet your strawman through thorough research.

Turns out this number is legit. I completely blanked on some tax I owed, and the amount matched exactly what my accountant told me ages ago.

Earlier tonight, I received a phone call from a number introducing themselves as HM Revenue & Customs. Initially, I was doubtful because they requested my personal information. However, upon clarifying that it was regarding my Self-Assessment, I felt more at ease and complied. After going through the security process, they explained that their thorough questioning aimed to confirm they were speaking to the right person, ensuring the protection of private information from third parties, which seemed reasonable.

I am actually grateful for their call because it concerned some unpaid taxes from a few years ago that had slipped my mind. Thankfully, I managed to resolve the issue in the end.

It was definitely not a scam!

I got a call from HMRC about some unpaid taxes stretching over the last few years right up to this tax year. At first, I wasn’t sure if it was genuine but it turned out to be legit. The person on the other end was really kind and helped me clear everything up. I’m quite relieved I made the call back and sorted it all in the end!

I received a phone call earlier today from an extremely aggressive woman. However, she refused to disclose the reason for her call until I provided personal details such as my name, address, date of birth, and national insurance number. Naturally, I declined her request and instead decided to verify the phone number before proceeding further. Subsequently, I called the same number back and a man answered. I proceeded to explain the incident to him, but he became irate and started shouting. In an attempt to resolve the situation, I kindly requested to speak with his supervisor. However, this request only seemed to agitate him even more. Faced with the escalating anger, I decided it was best to end the call and hung up.

Somebody rang saying they were from hmrc, but as soon as i asked for proper ID and security checks, they just stopped cooperating. I told them to stop hassling me with calls and asked them to send any claims or reasons in writing. I reckon it’s about some old supposed overpayment of tax credits from yonks ago. There’s been loads of scare tactics and bullying over what they call “historical screw-ups” by hmrc, insisting the time limits for tax don’t count. But tax credits aren’t exactly taxes, so no one’s really tested this legally because they’d likely lose.

I received a phone call from someone who claimed to be from Revenue and Customs, stating my name. However, I suspect it might be a scam because HMRC usually doesn't contact people over the phone. As a precautionary measure, I immediately disconnected the call.

A confrontational man from Scotland approached me, demanding my personal details such as name, address, and date of birth. He claimed that I owed money to HM Revenue and became angry when I refused to make a telephone payment to close my account. I challenged him to prove his identity by sending me a bill through the mail. He threatened to involve a debt collection agency. Now that he has my name and address, I expect to receive a letter asking me to call a potentially costly hotline. This is clearly an elaborate hoax. These individuals are despicable criminals!
