This call really spooked me - they threatened to have the police come to my house! I answered thinking it was legit and even pressed 1 to keep going, but now I’m going to look over my phone bill carefully. Not on at all, especially as I’m mostly stuck at home with disabilities. Proper unsettling.

Ignore it, just don’t pick up or call back. It’s probably some sort of scam or a telemarketer trying to sell you something you don’t need. Best to just leave it be and not get involved.

Beware of this perilous scam! Under no circumstances should you engage or respond to them, nor should you press 1 or return their call. There's absolutely no risk of legal repercussions for disregarding their irritating and menacing communications. They are masquerading as officials from HMRC, attempting to intimidate you with threats of immediate arrest over fabricated unpaid tax issues, all for the sake of demanding an instant payment! These unscrupulous, manipulative crooks are preying on fear to extort cash from unsuspecting individuals, and it’s a tragedy that they’ve already targeted several elderly victims. Stay vigilant and steer clear!

Got a call today and it was obviously a scam. The automated voice claimed to be from HM Revenue & Customs, saying I was involved in some fraud and that a warrant would be issued for my arrest. It asked me to press one, which I did, and then a supposed operator came on, saying there was an issue with my tax return. He asked for my name, and when I gave it, they mentioned an old address of mine. It all felt fishy, so I told him to go ahead and arrest me, then I hung up. After that, I contacted my local police who confirmed it was a scam and advised me to report it on www.actionfraud.police.uk.
