Around 4 in the afternoon, I got a call from someone claiming I'd be arrested over unpaid taxes. I just laughed and told them it was total nonsense. Turns out, they were attempting to con me out of £1300. What a joke!

I ended the call straight away, half expecting the cops to show up any minute while I’m typing this. They were pretty slick, but I’m not easily fooled. No way they’re getting a single penny off me. I’m super cautious too and always double-check those cash machines!

This is definitely a scam. You get a robotic message claiming to be from HMRC, but it’s totally fake! Whatever you do, don’t ring them back or press any buttons, especially “1.” And if you do find yourself talking to them, never say “Yes” out loud - they record that and might twist it to say you agreed to something. They threaten to arrest you, but it’s all a load of rubbish. If you know how, please report this number to the ICO. They’re using an 0300 code to make it seem legit but it’s not. These fraudsters should be caught and punished.

BEWARE OF THIS FRAUD - never pick up, never hit 1, and definitely don't phone them back! No trouble will come your way if you just ignore their creepy threats. They act like they’re from HMRC and try to scare you with threats about arrest over bogus tax debts unless you pay straight away. It’s all a nasty trick by ruthless scammers trying to frighten people, especially older folks, into handing over cash. They’ve already duped quite a few vulnerable people, so stay safe and hang up!

I got a message from a recorded voice pretending to be from HMRC saying there's tax fraud linked to me. It told me to press 1 to speak to a fraud investigator. Definitely a scam, and a risky one at that.

I got a call claiming I owed money to HMRC and they told me to press 1 or I'd be arrested soon. Total scam, obviously. I just hung up straight away and didn’t press anything.

Got a recorded call saying I was being looked into for tax dodging and to hit 1 or else I’d get a warrant. I ended the call straight away and rang the tax department directly. They told me it was a scam and said they never call from private numbers - they always send official letters if there's an issue. So yeah, don’t press 1, just hang up and check with the tax office yourself.

This is totally a con - they say they're from HMRC and use that terrifying "pay up now or we'll come after you" threat. They even try to sweeten it by saying you can get a discount if you pay immediately. That’s not how HMRC operates at all. Honestly, just end the call and don’t engage with them.
