Got a robo call from the tax office saying I was involved in a fraud case and to press 1. I hung up straight away, but a mate at work pressed 1 and ended up getting charged £30 for it. DO NOT PRESS 1, JUST END THE CALL STRAIGHT AWAY. THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM TO RIP YOU OFF. THESE PEOPLE ARE ABSOLUTE LOWLIFES.

Someone called claiming I owed taxes and asked for the last 4 digits of my national insurance number, saying I'd be taken to court otherwise. Be careful, sounds dodgy to me!

03002001220 kept ringing me a couple times and I just let it go, then I phoned back and found it was linked to a mobile number. The next time it rang, I picked up and the caller said it was from HMRC Fraud Squad, warning me to press 1 or else I’d get arrested! Surely neither HMRC nor their Fraud Squad would behave like that. It’s a really worrying call, especially if someone more vulnerable were the one who answered.
