Wow, this lady must be magic or something! I rang them back last year just for a laugh, and they told me she’d died. Honestly, it’s a dodgy scam and pretty rubbish too. I’m PAYE and know my stuff’s all paid up, but besides that, it’s a really shoddy way to try and nick money. Got a recorded message from this number again, the third time in a few weeks, saying it’s from HMRC about taxes. But I’m sure HMRC only communicate by post, they never phone you. This is clearly a SCAM and could be really harmful, especially to older folks or those who might not be aware of these tricks.

Got a call from a number I didn’t recognise. I picked up but just left the phone down without saying anything. Some bloke rang up saying he was 'Tom V Morris' from HMRC, going on about a lawsuit against me, tax evasion, fraud, criminal charges, warrants, possible police arrest, even a high court case or something! Absolutely dodgy and very unnerving. He had my full name and dob. I asked for a contact number so my lawyer could get in touch and sort it out properly. He just ended the call. Total scam!

Received a call from 03002003333 while I was overseas, an automated voice saying I had a warrant for tax evasion. I was told to press one to speak with the officer handling my case. The person said there was a 'mistake' in my tax calculations and I needed to pay £819 or face court. They kept pushing for a payment transfer before ending the call, but I was off the grid so couldn't pay, they said my case wouldn't be sorted otherwise. I got suspicious and paused the call to check the number online. Eventually, they said they’d ring back in five minutes but never did. Pretty convincing though.
