I got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC, telling me I owed money and if I didn’t press 1 to talk to them, I’d get arrested. I’m a disabled woman living alone and it really worried me, but I ended up hanging up and looking it up on this site first. So glad I did, as it was a scam. I’ve blocked the number now.

I got a call from 03002003332 saying HMRC had flagged fraud linked to me and that I'd be arrested if I didn't respond. The way they threatened me sounded odd, as I’ve never heard the tax office talk like that before. So, I hung up and looked up the number here. Sure enough, it’s a scam. This kind of call could easily scare someone who doesn’t know better. Honestly, they just want to mess with people. Don’t ever press 1 - just block and ignore it.
