Got a call from this number +442037000190 today, some bloke saying his name was Officer Alex Morgan from HMRC. He claimed there’s an arrest warrant out for me over unpaid taxes and said I need to pay £998 straight away to sort it. I told him that’s not happening and asked him to send me the court papers in the post, then he just hung up on me.

Today, 29/06/2020, I got a call saying there was a warrant for my arrest and gave me a reference number. It really shook me up. When I tried calling back, the number wouldn’t connect. After checking HM Revenue's official contact, I noticed their number ends differently. My son had to calm me down and explain it was just a scam. Usually, I handle these sort of calls with confidence, but being stuck at home so long during lockdown made me more vulnerable. It’s scary stuff, especially for folks who might have heart conditions or be at risk of stroke. These scammers can really cause harm.

I ended up speaking to someone, and when I mentioned calling the police, they said they’d send officers round. I argued with them for a bit before realisng it was pointless and hung up. I’ve had these kinds of calls before and they’re always scams, so I just ignored and hung up. It’s really scary for older or vulnerable folks. Got a call from this number today and was quite curious about who was on the other end. Definately sounded like one of those call centres from India. There’s just so many businesses running calls from there now. Honestly, I’m really worried about my personal info getting out or used wrongly by these places. Data privacy is a massive concern with those Indian call centres.

So I got a phone call claiming it was from HMRC saying I'd done some fraud and if I didn’t press 1 they’d send the police after me. I ended up pressing 1 and got through to a man speaking with a really heavy Indian accent. You could hear loads of background noise like a busy call centre, probably in India. The call quality was pretty bad too. Seemed like a typical overseas Indian scam to me.

Even said they’d come take my house and car for debts. The bloke had a scary tone, sounded Asian or something. Proper frightening at first but once you know it’s a scam it’s easier to handle. Waiting in case they try calling again!!

I just ended the call straight away as I’ve dealt with this before and spoken with the HMRC investigations team who told me they only contact by letter. They never use phone calls, texts or emails.
