Got a call from a bloke with a strange accent claiming to be from homecare, asking if I’d got some warranty papers for my appliances. It felt a bit off, so I just asked whether he’d posted the paperwork to my address or emailed it. He said it was sent to my house. Once he noticed I wasn’t about to hand over any info, he hung up straight away.

I didn't answer since the number was unfamiliar, letting my voicemail take over, but no message got left. Saw the bit about fridge freezer insurance, which caught my eye as I’ve just purchased one from an eBay seller myself. Last year, I got a call too about prolonging the warranty for a cooker I bought from another store. Not sure if it’s legit and they really sell these warranties, or if it’s just a scam. Either way, it’s a bit worrying that these companies have our phone numbers - best to just block and forget about it.

Had a call from someone with a foreign accent claiming to renew or extend my household appliance insurance. He insisted I had a policy already and tried to get me to sign up for a two-year extension, which I don't even have. Weirdly, he mentioned the exact appliances I've bought recently, so I nearly fell for it. Luckily, I hung up before he asked for any bank info.

I’m from England but live up here in Scotland. Got a call from an English lady who just said hello and then went silent and hung up as soon as I answered. Think maybe she was expecting a different accent or somethin. Quite weird really!

I tried calling back but got an automated message saying something like “this forwarder’s suspended, please get in touch with customer support.” Quite frustrating!

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent wanting to speak to the person who used to live here. I told him it wasn’t me, and when I asked who he was, he just hung up straight away.

Normally, I don’t pick up calls from numbers I don’t recognise, but this time I did and there was nothing but silence when I answered. After looking it up, I found loads of people had got calls from the same number. I’m definitely not answering again. Hopefully, if more folks spread the word about these dodgy calls and avoid picking up unknown numbers, we can put an end to these sneaky money-grabbing tactics. It’s such a horrible way to try and scam people.
