I had a rather dubious encounter with a chap named Chris who claimed to be an expert on loft insulation. I can't shake the feeling that it was all rather fishy.

Had a bloke on the phone with posh English accent saying he was from some sort of 'residential standards' group. He wants to check my loft for insulation that’s supposedly making mould appear. Honestly, that’s daft - insulation causing mould is only really a problem if it’s in a damp cavity wall, not up in the loft! These scammers are getting worse, reminds me of that ridiculous “Lord Melbury” character from Fawlty Towers. Proper annoying.

Today, I got three calls from this number between about 5 and 6pm. Earlier, another Bournemouth number (01202 143576) rang me three times between roughly 3 and 4.30pm. I didn’t bother answering because I use a BT Call Blocker, so if the caller isn’t saved in my contacts, my phone doesn’t even ring and the caller is told they can’t get through. Both numbers are now blocked on my phone. I wouldn’t just call this harassment - I’d say it’s actually downright dangerous. Like someone else mentioned, this person really ought to be stopped.

Some guy named Chris kept ringing my mum over and over, going on about how her loft needed insulation. Thankfully, she’s pretty sharp and her family knows how to block these dodgy numbers. Total rubbish calls. He used numbers like (09746) 518535, (01202) 143580 and (01202) 143576.

They said they were calling from SW London but the number had a Bournemouth area code. When I asked who exactly they were representing and said I didn’t know the company, they quickly ended the call. Sounds like it might be one of those dodgy scam calls.
