Someone from Pakistan has been ringing me about 10 times in the past few days. I ignored all but answered the last call today. The bloke said his name was John (!) and claimed to be from the Telephone Preference Service. He asked if I was still getting dodgy calls. They've phoned me four times in the past couple of hours. One guy told me he knew my address and said I’d paid my phone bill by direct debit, then he started saying my card expired in 2018. I told him nicely to leave me alone. Just got another call and told him off proper, told him not to call again, but he kept trying to speak as I was hanging up. Such a nuisance!

I've had a rather curious experience with my phone today, receiving no fewer than four calls in just a couple of hours. I answered the first one, albeit rather unsuspectingly, only to be met with nothing but silence on the other end. The subsequent calls went straight to voicemail, but oddly enough, not a single message was recorded. Quite peculiar, to say the least!

I got a call from this number but couldn’t really understand who it was, my husband answered it. The person claimed they could stop all annoying calls starting tomorrow and then asked for the expiry date on his debit card. He refused to give it them three times, and on the third try he spoke really slowly and clearly, after that they just hung up.

Got a call from this number today. The guy sounded like he had an Asian accent and said his name was Neal but had to spell it out. He said he was from the Telephone Preference Management Company. It's really frustrating that this number has been active since last April. I’ve set up Call Protect on my BT landline (which is free), and reported the number. With Call Protect, you can just call 1572 after the scam call and block it to your personal blacklist voicemail. BT say they do look into these calls!

Called my elderly mum, who’s 88. The caller sounded like he knew her name and some other private stuff. He said he was from some phone blocking company and started asking her stuff about it. Even when she told him to stop, he wouldn’t listen. It left her quite upset and rattled.

Just had a rather dodgy call, supposedly from the TPS, insisting they needed to confirm my card's expiry date. From what others have said, these scammers seem to be using 0621, 3, 5 and 7. I’ve blocked .5 and .7 now, but can’t block the others until they ring me again (which is frustrating with the BT 1572 system).

Similar to what others have mentioned, I got a call from someone who sounded Indian, saying they were from the Telephone Preference Service. They had my wife’s name and address, and wanted to check our card info, even pushing for the expiry date. They're pretending to be TPS and asking for credit card info to 'renew' registration. TPS is supposed to be free, so this sounds dodgy. This firm says they're the Telephone Preference Service but they aren't. They keep ringing non stop and ask for your bank details to pay for an upgrade, which doesn't even exist. I've reported them to the authentic TPS, but they seem to switch their phone numbers all the time, so I guess that’s why they still manage to scam people. Just so you know, the genuine TPS is totally free and they’d never give you a ring.

Received a call but chose not to pick up, so I decided to look it up on this site! As far as I'm aware, the TPS service doesn’t cost anything, so fingers crossed nobody falls victim to these dodgy tactics! Is there not a way to have these characters shut down?

I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from a call centre, with what sounded like an Indian accent. They said they were representing the TPS call blocking service and asked if I could provide my credit card information to 'confirm' my account for their so-called 'enhanced' TPS service registration. Quite suspect, if you ask me!

Got a call from this number but there was no sound at all, reckon it’s probably a scam or they’re collecting numbers to be used for scams later. Going to report it to Ofcom since silent calls are meant to be banned now, at least as far as I know.

Got a call from 01143190627, bloke said he was from the Telephone Preference Service and asked if we were still getting calls. When I said "yeah," he just hung up. Pretty sure that wasn’t the real TPS.

I've managed to block this number, yet I still get a barrage of calls from other unknown sources every single day. It’s absolutely infuriating and has got to come to an end. My heart goes out to those who are more susceptible to these disturbances.

They claimed to be from some kind of telephone preference firm, not a service. They've rung me up a couple of times and soon as they start asking for my debit card info, I just hang up on them straight away.

Got a call from someone saying they were from the telephone preference service, offering to upgrade to stop all nuisance calls, even from overseas - total scam. I’ve also had calls from numbers like 01143190625, 0623, and 0621. Whenever I block them with BT Call Protect, they just call from a different number. I've reported it to TPS and Ofcom since they’re mostly silent calls. Been getting at least a couple of these every day for the past week.

the number showed up as bt motif on caller id. caller asked for my card info, said they were from tel preference. i called bt and bank, both said its a massive scam! the number was 01143190627.

Had a call from someone claiming to offer phone preference blocking on Friday from a 01632 number, so when they rang again today I thought it was the same lot. Asked them straight up for a contact number and as soon as I did, they just cut the call. Definitely a scam.

i didnt answer this call but from what others are saying, its the usual "telephone preference service" scam again. like some others have mentioned about this number - 01143190627 - ive had 3 calls from these scammers in the last few days. they also called from 01143190621 with "alex" and 01623270165 with "kevil". wish the police would look into these numbers and catch whoever is behind this.
