If the phone can spot this trickery, why don’t the phone companies do something about it? You’d think BT, Openreach and Ofcom would be on top of this, but it feels like they’re letting it happen, which is either dishonest or possibly even fraud. Yesterday, I got calls from 01143190621, supposedly trying to sell call blockers, at 14:37, 16:30, 17:26, 18:06, and 18:56. Then today, calls came from 01143190623 at 09:35, 09:57, 10:29, 13:50, 14:26, and 15:16, plus one from 011431906235 at 16:25. Even tho the number looks like it’s from Sheffield, my phone shows them as international, so this seems like some kind of trick. If my phone can spot this, why can’t the phone company do something about it?

Who’s supposed to sort this out? ISPs just point fingers at BT. BT sends you right back to the ISP. Ofcom basically says it’s too tricky to deal with. TPS doesn’t help one bit. It’s obvious they’re not doing enough to stop these calls. Bring back the Post Office and a proper, reliable service!

He’s been ringing me all week, and once more today, claimed he was TPS, but then started asking about my Visa card expiry dates. The cheek of her asking if I was annoyed by cold calls and that they might be able to help!!! I don’t get why the authorities haven’t shut these lot down yet. Got a call from a man with an Asian accent claiming to be calling from the Telephone Preference Service. Somebody said they were “tech support” for my PC, the standard trick about my computer having a virus. They asked me to open the event viewer which just shows routine minor errors that normally happen. Even when I told them it was a scam, they kept going, claiming they were from Windows support but clearly weren’t Microsoft. I even told them I use a Mac and they still tried to carry on.
