Blimey, I've never encountered anything like this before! The chap claimed to be from BT and had both my name and address spot on (which is a bit alarming) and mentioned that I settle my bills via direct debit (which is true). He also asked if I was fed up with nuisance calls (dead right) and mentioned that my debit card was on the brink of expiring (also accurate). Then he had the cheek to ask me to fetch my card and share some details, which I promptly declined to do. Honestly, I can totally see how easily someone might fall for this, given how much he knew. Just a friendly warning to everyone: steer clear of sharing any personal info regarding your credit or debit cards!

I got a few calls off someone claiming to be from the telephone preference service. They kept pushing for my credit card info, which I found really dodgy. Each time they rang, they sounded more and more aggressive.

I recently received a phone call from the number mentioned above, concerning unwanted calls. The caller, a woman of Asian descent, addressed me by name and was clearly aware of my address, not to mention my phone number. She claimed to represent the Telephone Preference Service and was in the process of updating my information to eliminate nuisance calls. However, when she requested my debit card expiry date, I promptly informed her that I recognised it as a fraudulent attempt and do not disclose my financial details to anyone, especially via phone.

I just received a rather unpleasant phone call from an Indian chap who purported to be representing the Telephone Preference Service. He started off by inquiring if I was inundated with irritating calls, to which I replied in the negative. His response? "That's splendid, it indicates our system is functioning well." Then he went on to assert that my direct debit was linked to my son's name. When I corrected him, he pressed me to reveal who was responsible for that payment. I had him repeat the question three times as he grew quite flustered. He proceeded to insist on the name of the bill payer to 'update their records.' At that moment, it was crystal clear what his intentions were, so I politely refused to disclose any further details. To my astonishment, realising he was caught out, he actually thanked me for my time and wished me a lovely day before ending the call. Quite the character!

On the 3rd of October, I had a rather familiar experience when I picked up the phone. An Indian gentleman who went by the name "Mark" was on the other end, asserting he represented the Telephone Preference Service. I wasted no time in telling him exactly what I thought of his dubious claims and ended our little chat with a rather pointed dismissal. I do hope it ruffled his feathers!

I just got a call from this number claiming to be from some telephone preference service, asking if I wanted to block marketing calls. When I asked how they could tell if the calls were from salespeople, the bloke kept going on about my Visa card expiring in 2016. I told him that wasn’t true, but he insisted I get my Visa and give him the 6 digit number under my name. That’s when I knew straight away it was dodgy. I kept probing why he needed my bank sort code, and he then said it wasn’t my sort code. I just found that hilarious and hung up. Definitely a scam, so watch out for this one!

WATCH OUT I just got a call from a bloke claiming to be about blocking unwanted calls (I thought it was one of those annoying ones). The number showing was 002030639321. He said he worked for Telephone Preference Management, but I quickly found out that’s NOT the same as the official TPS - Telephone Preference Service. Don’t be fooled. The real TPS never rings you asking about their service. THIS IS DEFINITELY A TRICK.

WATCH OUT I just got a call from a number 002030639321 about stopping nuisance calls. (I assumed it was legit like this one). The person claimed they were from Telephone Preference Management, which I later found out isn’t the same as the TPS (Telephone Preference Service). Heads up - TPS never calls you out of the blue like this. THIS IS A SMOOTH SCAM.

I got a call from someone saying they were from the telephone preference service and wanted my visa debit card expiry date. When I wouldn't give it to them, the person got quite rude, so I just ended the call.

I received a rather dubious call from a call centre today, with a female voice-sounded like she was of Asian descent-and there was a background din from other conversations. She claimed to be contacting me on behalf of the Telephone Preference Service. Astonishingly, she rattled off my name, address, and phone number as if it were nothing. Then she inquired whether I could confirm that, according to their system, my phone bill was settled via direct debit. When I asked her to clarify the question, she seemed rather insistent that I confirm it, insisting their records were accurate. It struck me as a rather dodgy situation, so I decided to cut the call short. I could tell it was some sort of scam straight away.

I had a rather unpleasant encounter with a rather discourteous gentleman from India who was quite insistent on prying into my private details. Naturally, I promptly hung up on him. To my dismay, he didn't stop there; he had the audacity to contact my 92-year-old father, claiming he needed to gather personal information under the pretense that I had been involved in a severe car accident, which was utterly untrue. Disgraceful behaviour, to say the least. - Mark

I've received three calls from this number today. I missed the first two, but on the third attempt, I picked up. An Indian gentleman was on the line, insisting that I rummage through my house for my bank card. He rattled off my name, address, and phone number as if he knew me. I was struggling to find the card, and he started getting quite pushy, insisting that I keep searching until I turned it up. I asked him to send me more information regarding his request, to which he snapped back that he couldn't do that without knowing who I was. I pointed out that since he had called me and mentioned my address, he should have some idea! His tone got increasingly aggressive, and I eventually ended the call.

I received a rather dubious call today purporting to be from the Telephone Preference Service. They had the audacity to quote my postcode and then proceeded to ask me to rummage through my purse and cupboards for my bank card details, specifically the expiry date. It quickly dawned on me that this was nothing but a scam, so I decided to put the caller on hold indefinitely. Now, to my annoyance, they’re bombarding me with repeated calls and leaving nothing but silent voicemails. Honestly, I’m thoroughly exasperated with these persistent nuisance calls!

Somebody rang claiming they were from the telephone preference service and asked for my VISA expiry info. They said they'd send a person round to my house to get the details and asked if I could offer them a bit to eat and drink. When I said no, they just hung up on me.

I encountered a rather thick Indian accent during the call. I genuinely struggled to grasp what she was trying to convey, despite her making the effort to repeat herself not once, but twice!
