To my surprise, I was greeted by a recorded message from a chap announcing that the number is no longer operational and could be acquired by contacting [email protected]. The recording went on to suggest that I reach out to directory enquiries by dialling "118 023," which comes at a rather steep rate of £6.98 per minute, not including any standard charges from my network provider. It seems likely that this Power Tel outfit is somehow affiliated with the 118 023 number.

Got a voicemail on my landline from a caravan site, they asked me to call back this number. Tried calling, but couldn’t get through at all. The message said to ring 118023, so I dialled it and waited for ages - like 22 seconds - but no one picked up. Then I noticed I’d been hit with a £5.96 fee! I emailed their customer support asking why I got charged when there was no answer, but they haven’t been any help at all. Really frustrating.

I’ve noticed a charge of £8.77 on my BT statement for a call lasting just over a minute. The problem is, I didn’t make that call! I’ve spent over an hour and a half trying to sort this out with BT’s customer service, and still no sign of a refund. On the 23rd of January, my wife picked up a missed call on our landline, not thinking much of it at the time. However, when we checked our online bill later, we were rather taken aback to see a charge of £6.64 for a call lasting about a minute. Upon contacting Plus Net, I was informed that this was a BT directory inquiry, which led me to reach out to BT directly. To my dismay, I was told that the charge originated from Plus Net. It feels quite like being tossed from pillar to post, and I’d appreciate any guidance on this matter. As pensioners, we find this unexpected cost rather burdensome and unfair.

However, the number printed was clearly WRONG! Instead, I got directed to 118023, which seems to be one of those automated directory services. Ultimately, that led me to the right number for NRS Healthline. Just a word of caution - they don't mention that it’s a premium rate line; my call barely lasted a minute, and I was hit with that hefty charge!
