On the evening of Wednesday 2nd October 2019, at around 8.56pm, there’s a charge from 118119 for a 14-second call costing £1.68. We definitely didn’t make this call. I’ve read that others have been caught out by similar charges, so it looks like some sort of scam. I’m planning to reach out to OFGEM to try and get some answers about what's going on. Im not saying that the call to 118119 didnt happen from my landline, but im sure it wasnt me. What I'm really puzzled about is why 1.18 minutes ended up costing £5.47?? I pay £14 every month for a plan that covers calls to all networks, mobiles included, anytime. This charge just doesnt add up.

Look, I’m not saying the call didn’t come from my P.O landline, but I really can’t see why a 1 minute 18 second call would be charged as much as £5.47? I’ve got a package that covers calls to any network including mobiles, any time, and I pay £14 every month for that. Something doesn’t add up here.

On the 16th September I called 118119 to find a phone number but couldn’t get the details I needed, and the call only lasted 39 seconds. Imagine my shock when I saw a £5.62 fee for that brief call! I’m really upset about being charged this much and I’m planning to report it to the Telephone Regulator. As a pensioner, my phone is essential for me, but with prices like this, I won’t be using this service again if I need a number. I wish BT would bring back their old directory enquiries service that didn’t cost anything. Please review this charge and consider refunding some, or all, of it.

So I just spoke to EE and apparently I called 118119 and in December I also rang 08719767247 for about two hours, which ended up costing me £29. Nobody at home remembers making these calls. I looked the numbers up on Google and they’re both linked to something called fly trap. My guess is that when you pick up a rubbish call, somehow it gets flipped and you end up paying for it. I’m going to ring EE again to find out if they can help sort this out.
