From what I’ve gathered looking at previous posts and a bit of Googling, this really does seem like it's Halifax calling. Trouble is, I’m not who they’re after at all. I don’t hold a Halifax card, and the name they’re asking for isn’t mine either. Plus, none of my card numbers end with those four digits they mentioned.

I noticed I had five missed calls on my work phone while I was on annual leave. I’m with Santander, and they usually get in touch via my mobile whenever there's any scam or fraud issue. I’ve never shared my office number with anyone, so I suspect this is just a scam generated by an automated dialer.

So what happened to me was I got charged £6.48 for a 16 minute call from my mobile just to confirm a card payment I did with Halifax Insurance. The number they called me on was actually mine and was left on my answerphone by Halifax. Seriously, what a rip off!

It was inquiring about someone named Mr. But I can assure you, there’s no one by that name residing here. They kept ringing me non stop throughout the weekend, using some robo voice that said there was an issue with my bank card and I should press any key to get a fraud alert. Seriously, do they really reckon I'm daft? When I eventually tried calling the number back, my phone said it wasn’t valid. I also contacted my credit card provider, Halifax, and they wouldn’t say either way if it was them. So now I’m just left confused, don’t know if it’s a scam or legit.

I'm pretty sure it's a phishing scam because the number is actually from a Council Office, and the person called hasn't been there for about 4 years.
