Got a call from someone saying they're from HMRC and they left a voicemail threatening legal trouble if I didn’t ring back. I checked with HMRC directly and they confirmed it’s a scam and told me not to get in touch with those people again. They suggested reporting it through email. Just like many others here, I got a call from a woman claiming to be Officer Dennis Grey from HMRC, warning me about legal trouble if either me or my lawyer didn’t ring back. I’m on PAYE, always have been, so there’s no way HMRC is chasing me over the tiny amount I earn! Don’t get stressed over these calls. Got a voicemail after missing a call from some woman saying I needed to ring someone back 'cause it was urgent and legal action would be taken if I didn't. Being 13, I had no idea who HMRC was, so I worked out it was a scam. I had just ended a phone call sorting out an issue with HMCTS in Greater Manchester. Then a man claiming to be Mr Dennis Grey from HMRC rang me, so I assumed it was linked. He had an African accent and asked for my name, address, and postcode, which I gave. My fiancé quickly looked up the number on Google while I was still on the call and saw it was flagged as a dangerous number. The number was 0844 351 0690. I hung up straight away and haven’t had any more calls from them. BE CAUTIOUS. Always think carefully before sharing any info with unsolicited callers.

I rang the number back and some person picked up, saying I supposedly owe £3,690 and if I don’t pay, they’ll start legal action against me. Got a voicemail from this number after a missed call, and it was threatening me with "serious consequences" if I ignored it. Really classy, right? Absolutely avoid calling back!
