The phone providers really oughta do something about these calls, like put some sort of company code at the start so you can tell who’s calling. If they don’t, they should be held accountable for letting it go on. It’s getting ridic!

I got this weird automated voicemail from 0844 351 0786 claiming to be from Andrew Lobo’s office, saying he’s with HMRC. The message had this American woman’s voice warning me there’s some urgent legal matter and I should get a solicitor and ring back or face serious legal trouble. When I did call back, some guy with a thick Indian accent told me they did a tax audit and that they’d sent me a letter about 90 days ago, but since I didn’t reply, they’re now pressing charges against me for tax fraud, tax evasion, and falsifying accounts. He said I supposedly owed £3986 and offered me the choice to pay or else be fined up to £35,000 or risk 5 years in prison. I told him I was confused because the whole thing sounded off. He kept trying to scare me, threatening to auction my properties and seize my wages. He gave me some badge ID: 523983 and a case reference DC/2320/R with the name Andrew Lobo, but I wasn’t convinced. Eventually, he hung up when he saw I wasn’t buying it. Definitely felt like a scam to me.

Got a call saying I'm involved in fake tax claims and that I should press 1 to talk to someone about it. They warned me if I don’t, I’ll get a notice for arrest. Total scam!

Got a call from some recorded voice claiming to be HMRC India, saying there’s a tax fraud case against me. Naturally, I freaked out a bit cause I had no idea what was going on!!

Got a call from a computer voice claiming to be HMRC saying I’d ignored letters and there’s a warrant out for me, which is total rubbish! Honestly, never pick up these calls. HMRC won’t be ringing you like that, ever!

Got a robo call from "HMRC" saying I’m involved in some tax fraud, and I should press 1 to speak to someone. So glad it was just a machine and not a real person - I would have told them to get lost in no uncertain terms! :( what a load of rubbish.

Got this robocall saying it was from the tax office, HMRC. They accused me of fraud and warned that if I didn’t hit 1, I’d be getting arrested soon. Total scam!

I had a very similar experience. It’s really frightening to find out you supposedly owe a huge sum without any warning. I was absolutely gobsmacked. People really take advantage of the opportunities they get, using them to exploit others without any shame.

Just ignore it, total HMRC scam. Don’t even reply.

He kept pushing me, asking if I wanted to pay up or risk going to court where I could get fined 30 grand or spend 5 years inside. I told him it all sounded dodgy and didn’t add up. The bloke was really aggressive and kept threatening me, then just hung up. He also mentioned they’d seize my earnings and auction my properties. Before he ended the call, he gave me some Badge ID (523983) and a case number (DC/2320). Total scam if you ask me.

On the morning of Thursday 19th September 2019, at 10:03am sharp, I got a voicemail from the number ‭0844 351 0750‬ claiming to be from Andrew Lobo’s Office (Tax Auditors) supposedly working for HMRC. The message was a robotic, female American voice telling me to get a solicitor and call them back immediately over a “very urgent” issue or else face “serious legal consequences”. When I phoned back, a man with a strong Indian accent answered and said they had done a tax audit on me. He mentioned a letter had been posted to me 3 months ago but since they’d had no reply they were moving forward with charges against me for tax fraud, evasion, and falsification of accounts. He claimed I owed £3,459.95 and asked how I submitted my taxes. I told him I used an accountant, but he insisted their figures didn’t match mine - which left me baffled. How exactly had they compared these numbers? He then warned that if I refused to pay, the case would go to court, and if found guilty, consequences could include asset auctions, wage garnishment, fines of up to £30,000, or even up to 5 years in prison. I’d also face an arrest warrant. When I said I was confused and that none of this made sense, he was really rude and threatening, then abruptly hung up when he realised I wasn’t cooperating. He did give me a badge ID 523983 and a case reference DC/2320 though. The number calling me was ‭+44 844 351 0750‬. Overall, a pretty intimidating and suspicious experience.

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be Dennis Grey from some revenue office. I had a feeling right away they weren’t legit - no genuine company would ring like that. Proper dodgy lot, awful people.

Got a call from some robotic voice saying they were from HMRC. Sounded totally fake and annoying. Definitely a scam trying to trick people. Watch out for these dodgy calls!

Got a call from a robotic voice claiming it was from customs and the HRMC, telling me I needed to contact solicitors and ring them back. Felt dodgy to me.

So I picked up the phone and just said hello, and out of nowhere an automated voice replies with goodbye! When I tried ringing back, the call just dropped right away. Weird stuff.

i got a call from someone who wanted info about a crash i'd supposedly been in. i could tell it was a scam right away, so i just ended the call. now i'm wondering if maybe i shouldnt have hung up so quick. if they ring again, i'll probably play along just to mess with them and waste some of their time!

Got a call from a call centre today, number pinged like 4 times. You can actually hear loads of chatter in the background before someone picks up.

Got a call from a robot! I picked up and said hi, then this robotic voice just said goodbye!

Totally a scam! Some woman called saying she was from the Queen’s office, threatening me about owing tax money. Turns out it’s one of those fake bank and credit card scams, often run by people in India trying to freak you out about government debts. Needless to say, I’ve blocked the number! Watch out for this one!
