5 yearsBack in 2021 here in Ireland, I got a similar call just yesterday. Some bloke claiming to be Andrew Lobo from the Revenue called me. It started off with an automated voice, then this guy came on live, trying to scare me into paying €5,287 to avoid court. Obviously, I didn’t hand over a penny. Watch out for this one! The number they’re ringing from is (+353) 0884374720.IrelandAndrew Lobo7 yearsGot called by someone called Dennis - definitely a scam, I reckon.Dennis7 yearsThe phone providers really oughta do something about these calls, like put some sort of company code at the start so you can tell who’s calling. If they don’t, they should be held accountable for letting it go on. It’s getting ridic!7 yearsI got this weird automated voicemail from 0844 351 0786 claiming to be from Andrew Lobo’s office, saying he’s with HMRC. The message had this American woman’s voice warning me there’s some urgent legal matter and I should get a solicitor and ring back or face serious legal trouble. When I did call back, some guy with a thick Indian accent told me they did a tax audit and that they’d sent me a letter about 90 days ago, but since I didn’t reply, they’re now pressing charges against me for tax fraud, tax evasion, and falsifying accounts. He said I supposedly owed £3986 and offered me the choice to pay or else be fined up to £35,000 or risk 5 years in prison. I told him I was confused because the whole thing sounded off. He kept trying to scare me, threatening to auction my properties and seize my wages. He gave me some badge ID: 523983 and a case reference DC/2320/R with the name Andrew Lobo, but I wasn’t convinced. Eventually, he hung up when he saw I wasn’t buying it. Definitely felt like a scam to me.Andrew LoboHMRC7 yearsGot a call saying I'm involved in fake tax claims and that I should press 1 to talk to someone about it. They accused me of fraud and warned that if I didn’t hit 1, I’d be getting arrested soon. Total scam!HMRC7 yearsI had a very similar experience. When I finally tried today, the number just says it’s not in service anymore. Feels dodgy to me, like a scam or something. Glad I was too busy earlier on the day of the call, probably saved me from getting stung.HRC7 yearsI got a voicemail from the number 0844 351 0750 saying it was from Andrew Lobo’s Office claiming to represent HMRC. When I rang back, a guy with a heavy Indian accent started telling me they’d done a tax audit and supposedly sent me a letter about 3 months ago. Since I hadn’t responded, he threatened to charge me with things like tax evasion, fraud, and falsifying accounts. He said I owed nearly £3,460. He kept pushing me, asking if I wanted to pay up or risk going to court where I could get fined 30 grand or spend 5 years inside. I told him it all sounded dodgy and didn’t add up. The bloke was really aggressive and kept threatening me, then just hung up. He also mentioned they’d seize my earnings and auction my properties. Before he ended the call, he gave me some Badge ID (523983) and a case number (DC/2320). Total scam if you ask me.Andrew LoboHMRC7 yearsOn the morning of Thursday 19th September 2019, at 10:03am sharp, I got a voicemail from the number 0844 351 0750 claiming to be from Andrew Lobo’s Office (Tax Auditors) supposedly working for HMRC. The message was a robotic, female American voice telling me to get a solicitor and call them back immediately over a “very urgent” issue or else face “serious legal consequences”. When I phoned back, a man with a strong Indian accent answered and said they had done a tax audit on me. He mentioned a letter had been posted to me 3 months ago but since they’d had no reply they were moving forward with charges against me for tax fraud, evasion, and falsification of accounts. He claimed I owed £3,459.95 and asked how I submitted my taxes. I told him I used an accountant, but he insisted their figures didn’t match mine - which left me baffled. How exactly had they compared these numbers? He then warned that if I refused to pay, the case would go to court, and if found guilty, consequences could include asset auctions, wage garnishment, fines of up to £30,000, or even up to 5 years in prison. I’d also face an arrest warrant. When I said I was confused and that none of this made sense, he was really rude and threatening, then abruptly hung up when he realised I wasn’t cooperating. He did give me a badge ID 523983 and a case reference DC/2320 though. The number calling me was +44 844 351 0750. Overall, a pretty intimidating and suspicious experience.Andrew LoboHMRC7 yearsGot a call a moment ago from someone claiming to be Amanda White with HMRC! Felt like one of those tax fraud scams to me.7 yearsThis definitely feels like a scam. The phone company should be able to track down who’s actually tied to that number without much trouble. If they can’t name a person or a company in charge, then they should be the ones accountable. Since they keep logs of all calls made and received on their accounts, they ought to have enough info to sort this out and even give compensation to those duped (although honestly, if someone fell for it, maybe they shouldn’t be using a phone at all).7 yearsGot a call from some scammers who left me a threatening voicemail. An American-sounding woman’s voice keeps telling you to get a lawyer and ring them back about some “urgent” issue or you’ll “face the full force of the law.” What’s weird is they want you to call right back on the same number - probably a rip-off on the call charges. If you’re unsure whether it’s genuine, just visit the official HMRC site and dial one of their 0300 lines. Oddly enough, they end it with a polite “take care.”HMRCBarclays7 yearsGot a call from an American lady claiming to be Dennis Taylor from HMRC.
