100% a scam, no doubt about it.

Got a call from someone claiming to be NatWest about a payment on my account, they wanted me to share my security info. I cut the call off and then phoned NatWest myself. They told me if they really needed to talk, there'd be a note on my account, but there wasn’t anything there.

So I think I downloaded a dodgy app pretending to be NatWest and ended up giving my info away, which was pretty daft of me. Then I went to the NatWest branch in Chelmsford 'cos I wasn’t sure what was going on. They told me the WhatsApp message I’d replied to from that number was a scam.

I got a call saying it was NatWest bank but honestly their service is just rubbish. Also, heads up, it’s definitely not free! I was stuck on hold paying for what felt like forever, last time it took more than 20 minutes. So frustrating.

Last night around 9.42pm I got a call from a guy with an Irish accent who said someone had tried to get money out of my accounts. It was pretty scary how much he seemed to know about me and my bank. After the call ended, I immediately rang my bank’s fraud team and got my cards cancelled. The whole thing felt really believable, which made it even more concerning.

Just after 9:40 PM yesterday evening, I received a rather alarming phone call from a chap who claimed to be with the fraud team at NatWest. He mentioned that someone was attempting to utilise my personal information, which sent shivers down my spine. What was particularly concerning was that he seemed to know the name of my bank and quite a bit about my circumstances. The conversation dragged on for a while, but I couldn't shake off my scepticism, so I decided to hang up. Without wasting a moment, I rang the legitimate fraud department number of my bank and had my cards cancelled immediately. It was a very convincing call, making it all the more perilous.

This phone number serves as the helpline for Natwest Bank regarding debit card issues. You'll find it printed on the reverse side of Natwest debit cards. Due to the prevalence of number spoofing, there's a chance you could get a call from a fraudster pretending to be from the bank, attempting to get you to confirm your card details. It’s crucial to remember that the bank will NEVER reach out to you from this number! That said, you’re still free to ring this number for any legitimate debit card questions you may have. Always be cautious and refrain from sharing your bank sort code or account details with anyone who contacts you unexpectedly.

I've observed that this number appears on the rear of the debit card, and it's also the contact number for telephone banking. As far as I can tell, Natwest typically won't reach out to you using this number. It's perfectly fine to make a call to it, but receiving a call from this number could potentially be risky. Thus, I would classify it as hazardous.

If you get a call saying they’re from your bank and ask you for your branch sort code “just to check,” it might sound okay but DON’T TRUST IT. They’ll tell you they’ll ring you back from the number on your debit card to prove they’re legit. THIS IS A REALLY SNEAKY SCAM, SO STAY ALERT!

In my previous message, I mistakenly typed "payment payment" instead of "payment card". Quite baffling that I didn't catch that slip-up, really.

Ofcom says you can't really trust Caller Line ID at all. The whole system is messed up because of old PSTN networks still in use. Maybe they'll sort it in a decade, who knows. But right now, don’t rely on CLI to verify who’s calling. It was never made for that sort of thing anyway. What I do now is tell them I’ll ring back, ask for their company and number, then end the call and check who they are properly.

Like others have mentioned here, this is definitely a scam and nothing to do with NatWest. The caller called himself James (he even used the same name as before, which is kind of dumb!). When I said it sounded suspicious and that I'd have my partner contact NatWest ourselves, he quickly cut the call.

Natwest scam alert - Watch out, they’ve copied this number so it seems legit. A man with an African accent (that's a bit of a red flag) said he was from the Security Team, saying someone was trying to use my card info for a purchase and it had been spotted. Then he asked for the last 4 digits of my 10-digit customer number (which is the sneaky part if they already know your DOB 'ddmmyy', the first 6 digits). Just hang up straight away!!

Got a call from a bloke called Mark who said he was from ‘Natwest’. He knew my name and wanted to verify some transactions to make sure they were legit. This looked like a legit NatWest number at first. But 03457888444 is definitely not a number you want to ring. Don’t talk to anyone on the line, just end the call and get in touch with your bank using the number printed on your debit card.

Honestly, just ignore this number and ring your bank directly. I got tricked into moving money to what I thought was my other account, but it turned out to be a fake 'new' NatWest account. Total scam.

This number is being used by scammers pretending to be from the bank. They rang me saying there was unusual activity on my account and that my account was being partly blocked. Then they asked me for the ‘Get Cash’ code from my online banking. I nearly fell for it but I told them I’d pop into a branch to sort it out myself. They ended the call straight away! Be careful! They sound really convincing but NatWest will NEVER ask for any codes. If you’re unsure, it’s best to hang up and ring NatWest directly.

This is DEFINITELY not a scam. The number belongs to NatWest. THAT SAID, BE CAUTIOUS and DON'T let your guard down. Fraudsters now clone phone numbers from loads of banks. NEVER engage with any call claiming to be from your bank right away. ALWAYS hang up, make sure the line is dead, then phone your bank back on the number found on your card. DON'T WAIT LONG. Sometimes there actually might be a problem with your account needing urgent attention.

Got a dodgy call earlier today claiming to be NatWest. They copied the number and said there was some suspicious activity with two withdrawals recently. Told me to press 2 for details. Ended the call and went straight to NatWest in person to report it. The lady on the call sounded well rehearsed. BE CAREFUL, this call was made to an older member of my family as well.

Got a call from NatWest earlier today, number was 03457888444, saying my card had been used in Liverpool, which is odd since I’m based in London. The bloke said he was Adrian Smith. I told him I’d just pop into the bank to sort it out. He even told me the last three digits of my card but they didn’t match at all. Quite chilling how he knew my name and address 😠

Some bloke with dodgy English said he was from NATWEST fraud department, asked if I’d seen any phishing texts lately and how much money I had in my account. He also claimed someone in Aberdeen tried to take cash out. He even knew my full name and where I live. Said he’d freeze all my accounts and change my PIN. Doesn’t sound like how my bank would speak to me at all. Number’s blocked now. Total SCAM.

0345 588 8444 rang me earlier. Number seems like it’s for NatWest but it was about 5:30 and they should of been shut by then. Plus I closed my account and moved to a different bank ages ago. If it was really urgent they’d of left a message, but nope.

I honestly think this number is legit and linked to NatWest, but if you do get a call from it, dont share any personal details. Got a call from someone claiming to be from NatWest’s fraud team, saying my account was used in Manchester for stuff like PureGym and Netflix. They wanted my mum’s maiden name and birth month, and stupidly I gave it to them. Then they put me on hold and I suddenly remembered I closed that NatWest account two months back - so I knew right away it was a scam. They had somehow looked up my old transactions and when I told them my account was shut, they flipped it and accused ME of fraud, saying the police would reach out this week. Do not pick up these calls!

That number is actually a legit NatWest contact, so there might be valid reasons they get in touch. If you ever get a call or message claiming to be from your bank, don’t reply or share any details straightaway - instead, ring up your bank using the number on your card. Only block those random spam calls, not genuine ones from companies you know. Just use a bit of common sense, really.

03457888444 rang me today. The caller ID showed NATWEST but the person claimed to be from Santander. When I pointed out the mistake and mentioned I actually work for Santander, he started swearing at me and said he was calling to rob me. Then he hung up abruptly. Watch out, these days fake calls can show genuine bank names on your screen, making it trickier to tell. It’s best to just hang up and contact your bank directly using the phone number on your card or the official site.

Hung up and rang Natwest myself, they said no one had called me. These fraudsters want you to shift your cash to a so-called “new account” to “keep it safe.” Don’t fall for it - they’re just trying to steal your money and you’ll never get it back. Saw someone’s comment from 09/08/20 on this number and it sounds spot on to me. I know this is definitely a NatWest Group number, so I’m marking it as safe, but still, it’s wise not to trust the caller straight away. I got a call back in July from someone acting like they were from RBS. They told me someone was trying to withdraw £130 from my account. They told me to go out and get £130 in cash to “protect” my account. When I asked how they could prove they were with RBS, cos that’s not something RBS would ever do, they actually sent a text that looked just like it came from RBS - very sneaky. They said I was insured by RBS but if I didn’t do what they said, I’d lose that insurance. Proper nasty scammers, honestly.

Got a call today from a bloke saying he was from RBS (which I think owns Natwest) telling me that about £130 had been paid from my account to some wedding planner. The guy had a London-ish accent and the whole thing felt a bit off from the start. I told him to ring me back in five minutes and he sounded a bit put out, like he knew I wasn’t buying it. Checked my bank and there was nothing dodgy at all. Rang the number back and it went straight to voicemail saying it was Natwest, but no call back since 😂. I’m in Edinburgh.

I nearly got totally scammed when I called a 'legit' Natwest number shown on their official online banking site. They passed me between loads of different folks who definitely weren't Natwest but scammers instead. Somehow, the crooks had managed to tap into the call.
