This number called me and I missed it, then I answered another call from the same number but ending with a 5. It was Halifax, seemed genuine. They had put a tiny test charge on my card, I said it wasn’t me and they cancelled and sent me a new card. Only asked for my DOB and postcode, so nothing fishy at all.

I rang Halifax using the number on the back of my card and they said this number isn’t in their system and to never call back or share any details with it. Oddly enough, Halifax’s Twitter said a while ago this number was legit, but that seems to have changed. Best not to take the risk. Just contact Halifax directly using the number on your card and they’ll let you know if they need to reach you.

For me, it was a legit call - they stopped a payment I was trying to do in the US - I went down to the branch and got it all fixed - now the payment’s going through. Real deal - got a robocall to confirm if recent charges on my card were mine or suspicious. They only asked for my birthdate and then went through all my most recent purchases on the call with me.

This number is linked to real Halifax debit card fraud calls. If you're unsure, just call the number on the back of your debit card. Halifax have a separate Online Fraud team who didn’t seem to know about 03453511686 (not very helpful, Halifax!) which might explain why a lot of people say it’s a scam. The debit card fraud department and the online fraud team are different. If you’re doubtful about any number, best to ring the one on your card - it’s what stopped a dodgy transaction for us.

This is a legit number for Halifax fraud dept. I phoned the number on my card and stopped a dodgy attempt to clear out my account. The lady confirmed it was the real number. They've cancelled my card now. But honestly, always call the number on the back of your own card to be safe.

I recently reached out to the Halifax Credit Card Fraud team. I made sure to dial the number listed directly on their official site, specifically at http://www.halifax.co.uk/aboutonline/security/suspicious-phone-calls/ - it’s 0345 602 2160. To confirm, Halifax assured me that 0345 116 8686 is indeed an AUTHENTIC number for their fraud prevention team.

I had my doubts about this, so I rang the number on the back of my card (03457203040) and chatted with an agent. She told me that 03453511686 is a legitimate Halifax number and then connected me to their Fraud Protection line. Sadly, I didn’t get to talk to an actual person! The whole thing was automated and I had to use my phone keypad to respond to questions. Honestly, I’m not a fan of that kind of setup!! My advice: ALWAYS VERIFY FIRST before believing!
