Don’t ever share your info on the phone if someone says they’re from your bank. It’s much safer to ring the bank yourself or pop into a branch. There’s loads of sneaky scams these days tricking folks left and right.

Scam alert - 1. I rang BoS to verify, and they told me the number isn’t theirs but looks very similar. 2. BoS also assured me there wasn’t any suspicious activity on my account. 3. When I called the number back, the automated system was really confusing. 4. They didn’t ask for the 'token' code that was left in the voicemail. 5. When I finally got through to someone, they couldn’t even say which bank I was with. Honestly, it’s not worth the risk calling that number back. I’d suggest just ringing your bank directly to check if there’s been any dodgy transactions.

I can certainly understand the call as "if it’s the Bank of Scotland," but as a pensioner receiving it at 7pm, I found it rather hard to believe. It would only be fair for such calls to be verified by a follow-up from your local bank the following day, at a more sensible hour, just to confirm that the initial call was indeed legitimate.
