I got a call from what I believed was Barclays, so to be sure, I called 159 myself. They were really helpful and a lady there answered all the questions I had. She confirmed it was indeed Barclays trying to reach me about something I bought. They used my home phone, texted me, and also dialled my mobile to get in touch.

DON'T TRUST THIS NUMBER, IT'S NOT BARCLAYS. Just block it. When Barclays ring, if the automated system can’t get through, they normally drop a voicemail and tell you to ring back on +44 (0)845 355 2441. They never ask you to call any '0333...' number - that's a scam.

Got a call from this number claiming it was Barclays Bank for someone with a different name, saying there was suspicious overseas card usage. Sounds like someone’s cloned this number and left a really believable voicemail - they even used my name and told me to ring the fraud team. As an older individual with a disability, I reside alone. Both my landline and mobile phone are registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), and my landline number is not listed in the phone directory. They looked into it and told me that Barclays hadnt tried to call me and there was no sign of fraud on my account. Whilst the number is registered to Barclays, they explained scammers can fake real numbers, so it's likely a scam call and not actually from Barclays. If you ever doubt a call from Barclays, best thing is to hang up and call back on a number you know is legit.

This was Barclays fraud team calling. Left a voicemail and when I rang back, the automated system asked me to enter my birth month and year from three options. Then I spoke to an agent who sent a notification through the Barclays app to verify it was genuinely them. He asked about some transactions I'd made the night before to make sure it was really me. I got a legit call and message from Barclays, so I called back using the phone number listed on their official site. They told me I should never share my debit card details, that’s the most important thing. Real Barclays only ask for your sort code and account number first, say your name before anything else, and should know loads about your spending habits. Scammers tend to bring up fake fraud transactions and say they need to transfer money super quick. Proper Barclays does not do that.

Got a call today with an automated voice. Didn’t seem quite legit to me. So I rang Barclays straight away. Just a heads up to everyone to stay careful with these sorts of calls.

I got a text and a call from someone pretending to be Barclays, saying there was suspicious activity on my account. I ignored both after reading these comments coz it felt fishy. I showed my hubby, who’s really cautious about security, and he reckoned it was dodgy as hell. I figured if there really was weird stuff going on with my account, they’d leave a voicemail asking me to call them back, right? I’m gonna stay watchful just in case. Please be careful everyone, these scammers will try anything!

I got a text before the call saying it was from Barclays asking about some transactions on my account. When I replied to the text, this number called me straight away. It was a recorded voice but they knew my full name. I ended the call straight away, felt it was dodgy. I checked with Barclays and they told me the call wasn’t legit and someone had tried to use my card fraudulently.

This number has called me a couple of times and it showed my full name on the caller ID. I’m guessing it’s a spoof. Pretty sure Barclays wouldn’t use an automated voice to call me like that. How do they even have my full name?

Got an automated Barclays message with some extra text to my phone. Luckily, just heard a Radio 4 segment about this scam where they stole over £2000 from some young bloke’s account. So I ignored it and plan to report it.

If you get an automated voice claiming to be from the fraud department, it's likely a scam. I rang Barclays myself and they told me they never use automated calls like that. The number showing is a real Barclays number but apparently, scammers are 'spoofing' it. Best thing is not to press any buttons and report it to your bank straight away.

Today, my company has received three phone calls from a particular number, claiming to be from Barclays Fraud. However, the individual they are requesting to speak to neither currently works for our organization, nor has ever been associated with it in the past.

The number seemed legit at first, but they got the name wrong. Actually, they’ve used that same wrong name loads of times before when trying other scams. I pressed a random button just to see what would happen and they immediately hung up. Feels like a classic case of number spoofing, pretending to be Barclays with a fraud alert. I'd say if you’re not sure, better ring Barclays yourself to check.
