I was trying to sell something on Gumtree when a woman messaged me on WhatsApp with a link. It seemed pretty real, saying my order was confirmed and to verify card details to move forward. But then it asked to enter info for a withdrawal, not a payment. I contacted live chat and they said they needed to take £350 for safety reasons 😂🤣. Occasionally payments won’t process properly if you’re using a VPN. I rang this number and they asked for my account and card info. I told them I wasn’t happy sharing those details over the phone. Barclays were fine with that and told me to ring the number on the back of my card and ask to be connected to their Card Fraud Department. THIS NUMBER IS COMPLETELY LEGIT. 👍👍

Just got a call from someone saying they were from “Barclays” asking if I knew about a certain transaction. I told them I didn’t. They called again but I let it go to voicemail, and the message sounded really fake and robotic. I looked at my bank account and there was nothing from that transaction. Be super careful. Received a message from Barclays saying someone was attempting to withdraw £37 from my PayPal account from the Philippines, which seemed strange since I don’t even have PayPal linked to my bank.
