They kept grilling me for loads of stuff like my full name, mum’s maiden name, sort codes, account numbers, the lot. Then they said they'd send a text with some sort of 'ACTIVATION CODE' in about 15 minutes. Spoiler alert: no text arrived and as soon as you hang up, they can empty your current or savings account. This phone number isn’t genuine, it’s been compromised and is basically a ghost number. I’d strongly advise steering clear of it. They come across as very professional, but really, they scam people by draining their bank accounts. When you need to call Barclays, only use the number printed on the back of your bank card. I once tried to buy a ‘special offer’ for £1.00 from a mobile locating site, so put in my card info. The payment didn’t go through, and shortly after, I got a call from this fake number, probing for more card details. Next thing you know, they’ll be emptying your bank account. Avoid it at all costs!

Hey folks - did nobody see Barclays' note above the activity map at the top? This number isn’t a scam. HOWEVER be careful. Scammers have faked all sorts of bank numbers to trick people. If your bank calls, don’t answer back straight away but don’t just ignore it either. Hang up and then ring your bank on the number on your card after making sure your line is free.

This number rang me four times, so I decided to ring back. It was a recorded voice, sounding like a nice Barclays helper asking for my mobile number. I didn’t feel right about it, so I rang Barclays up myself. They told me it was a scam number. According to them, they never make multiple calls and if they spot anything odd, they freeze the account and send a text. Plus, any calls from Barclays never show the number, it always comes up as unknown. They told me to watch my accounts carefully and to ignore any calls from this number if it rings again.

I got a call from Barclays fraud dept, they told me stuff about my account and had already sent a message earlier. This call sounded legit, they even told me things I’d spent and mentioned a card application that was declined, which was weird for my account. So fair play to Barclays this time, they handled it well.

Watch out, this is an actual Barclays number but scammers can fake it! I got what looked like a legit text from Barclays asking if I’d seen three transactions. They told me to reply N if I didn’t recognise them. I did, then got a quick call from this number and another text saying my card was frozen. I cut the call and rang Barclays straight away using the phone number on the back of my card. They told me there was no suspicious activity and my card wasn’t blocked at all! Just be cautious, calls from this number might not be what they look like.

I called Barclays because my card got stuck in the ATM. Not long after, like within an hour, I started recieving calls from this number saying my card was being used miles away from where I actually am. Quite strange!
