Got a call from some robo saying I was involved in a tax fraud case. I followed the prompt and hit 1, then ended up talking to this guy ‘Steve’. He kept calling me “Mr Dan,” like he hadn’t a clue how names work over here with first names and surnames. When I asked him straight up how I was meant to send him my savings, he got all awkward. I couldn’t stop laughing and just ended the call.

Got a call pretending to be from HMRC asking for £1,900 and saying I’d ignored earlier letters. I just gave them fake details and guess what, it matched their records! The whole thing was dodgy from the start - there was a robotic voice kicking off the call, and HMRC never contacts people like that. Total scam.
