I've had a few calls from someone asking if a Mortimer lives here. I don’t bother asking any questions, just tell them they’ve got the wrong number and then end the call. Seems like they might be looking for an ex or something, haha.

I’ve had calls from a number beginning 0300200 too, claiming to be from HMRC. The man spoke in a thick Indian accent and his English wasn’t great, but what really put me off was how rude he got. He kept asking for personal stuff like my name and address. Honestly, be careful with these calls, no idea what these scammers might do next!

Spoke to HMRC and they confirmed it's a scam going around. They do know about it but want you to send them an email with the details at [email protected]. They ask for: the date and time the call came through, the caller’s number if you can get it (maybe dial 1471 if it’s not showing on your phone), and a short summary of what they said.

I got a ring from someone claiming to be from HM Revenue, saying if I didn’t press 1, they’d send a warrant out for my arrest. It’s insane that these scams keep happening and nothing gets done to block them.

I got a call from 03002003894 saying I owed money to HMRC and that I’d be arrested if I didn’t pay up. They told me not to ring anyone from my phone because apparently it was being watched. Sounds like a scam to me, especially since my accountant handles all my tax stuff. They were really disrespectful as well.
