Phone number ☎️ 03002003859 👆 is reported as a phone number linked to both genuine HMRC debt management for employer PAYE issues and numerous scam calls impersonating HMRC to extract personal or financial information. Some callers claim to be from HMRC’s PAYE or debt resolution team and provide accurate reference numbers, suggesting legitimate enquiries about underpaid amounts or administrative errors. However, many callers use pre-recorded threats about fraud or arrest, often with suspicious accents or inconsistent details, pressuring for immediate callback or payments. Official HMRC typically corresponds by letter first and advises caution when receiving unsolicited calls. Users are urged to verify any call via official HMRC contact numbers, avoid sharing personal data, and report suspicious activity to HMRC’s phishing team. The dual nature of this number requires vigilance and confirmation from trusted sources before engagement.

I received a call from a woman named Joy, claiming to be from HMRC about PAYE matters. She left me a voicemail, but when I attempted to return the call, the number she provided turned out to be disconnected. Regrettably, I’ve also tried to reach HMRC's main PAYE line, but it's swamped with calls, making it nearly impossible to get through. Proceed with caution regarding this number!

Like others have said, I got one of those robocalls about supposed tax fraud. I’m on PAYE with the government, so HMRC sorts my tax stuff already. We all know scammers can fake any phone number they want. HMRC always includes a unique reference number if they really need to get in touch. The call I got was total rubbish, so I just ended it straight away.

Got a call from someone saying they were HMRC, telling me there was some fraud on my account and that I’d be arrested if I didn’t press 1. I looked up the number and it’s quite close to the real HMRC one, but I’m pretty sure it’s not them. I’m certain HMRC would send a letter or email first. So I’m just going to wait and see if they get in touch properly. Plus, I find it hard to believe HMRC would use an automated message for something serious like fraud. SCAM ALERT FROM HMRC! JUST GOT A RING FROM THIS NUMBER. THE BLOKE HAD A REALLY STRONG LIVERPOOL ACCENT AND WAS ASKING FOR OUR OFFICE MANAGER ABOUT PAYE. SHE WASN'T IN, SO HE SAID IF I GAVE HIM HER NUMBER, HE'D GET HER TO CALL BACK IN THE MORNING. THEN HE SAID IT AIN'T HIM, SHE'D HAVE TO RING HMRC DIRECT. MY BOSS CALLED THE NUMBER BACK AND ENDED UP SPEAKING TO A FRENCH GUY WHO SOUNDED FULL ON FRENCH! WE THEN RINGED THE REAL HMRC TO CHECK AND THEY SAID THEY’D NEVER CALLED US ABOUT PAYE. This number belongs to HMRC's debt resolution for employer PAYE matters. They'd phone you only if there’s something flagged on their debt system. If you ring them back, the advisor can see if you’ve got any payments or credits that aren't assigned properly. Often, payments and returns don't match up. The only way to sort it out is to get in touch with them.

Sounds like this number belongs to HMRC's debt team dealing with employers' PAYE stuff. They usually ring you only if there’s an issue showing up on the debt records. If you ring back, someone should be able to check for any payments or credits that haven’t been properly sorted or assigned. Often, the problem is payments not matching up with the returns. Best thing to do is get in touch with them to sort it out.

ABSOLUTELY NOT HMRC! Don’t get tricked by these numbers 0300 200 3884 or 0300 200 3859. I got a call saying I owed PAYE, but I knew I didn’t. The person on the phone got a bit pushy, so I told them to send me a letter. I then checked with my accountant who said nothing was due, and when I phoned HMRC myself using the official number from the gov.uk site, they confirmed I owed nothing. So don’t believe some comments here saying it’s HMRC - it’s usually scammers trying to fool you. REMEMBER, HMRC WILL ALWAYS WRITE TO YOU FIRST IF YOU OWE MONEY!

This number is from HMRC debt team. They ring because your PAYE details show you owe money. It doesn't matter if this is from a real underpayment, an error in your RTI info, or a missed credit - your record shows a balance owed. Just thinking your account is fine and not answering won’t do any good. You need to sort it out, as ignoring calls or letters will just mean adding interest and possibly a visit from enforcement agents.

Dear all, Just a heads up-this number belongs to HM Revenue and Customs. It pertains to their debt recovery unit and they might be reaching out regarding an outstanding PAYE balance that requires your attention. If they happen to leave a voicemail, you should expect them to include a reference number that's pertinent to your situation-something you’ll probably recognise or can easily verify. It’s best not to disregard these communications, as any unpaid debts will accrue interest over time, and failing to respond to their calls and correspondence could result in a visit to your premises.

I’m part of the HMRC debt resolution team, so I can confirm this number is legit. If you don’t ring back, you’ll get a letter and potentially enforcement action. It’s much easier to just call (it won’t cost you) and sort out any issues with your PAYE. If you can’t pay everything at once, just ask about setting up a payment plan - they usually let you spread payments over up to a year.

I received a call from this number earlier this evening. While I was verifying things (which essentially means checking info available on Companies House) with the advisor, I quickly did a search for this number and stumbled upon this site. I'm certain it's HMRC reaching out. The advisor mentioned that my last payment lacked the proper allocation reference. I inquired about the 3859 number, and they informed me it’s a new contact for the Debt Resolution team. It’s an extension of the regular 0300 200 3810 number. Currently, this line is operational from 9 in the morning to 5 in the evening, but they plan to extend that to 8 in the evening soon. Hope this information proves useful!

Today, my office received a call from this number, and a message was left instructing me to get in touch with Daniel Reid from HMRC, mentioning our PAYE reference. I returned the call only to be confronted with claims that I had an outstanding PAYE balance, and the figure they presented seemed far too inflated. They wanted to know when I could settle it. This is a real HMRC number for chasing up unpaid PAYE tax and National Insurance contributions. If they ring and you don’t believe you owe anything, it’s likely an admin mistake that still has to be sorted out.
