This is definitely a scam, and quite convincing too. They even faked the actual HMRC phone number. I rang HMRC myself and they confirmed they know about these calls happening. I told him he was the one who called me, and straight away he started shouting about a tax evasion case and how I'd be arrested if I didn’t pay up.
