I received a couple of calls from numbers that were quite alike. They both left identical messages, just as others have mentioned before. I didn’t hit digit one at all. It's important to note that this sort of message would never come from HMRC. Thus, I've decided to block both of those numbers.

i got a robocall saying it was from hmrc and that they were opening a tax fraud investigation on me. they told me to press ‘1’ to respond or else they'd take action against me. i just ended the call and blocked the number straight away.

Got a ring from these people recently - they tried to get all my info but couldn’t actually back anything up. I asked for a reference number and they claimed they'd give it only after some security check. So, I fed them total rubbish details, which they somehow accepted without question. They then claimed I owed money to the tax office. I told them I’m the tax officer myself and that I’ll be filing a case against them instead. To my surprise, they just hung up! Just a heads up, this is definitely a SCAM.

Rang up HMRC afterwards, and they confirmed it was a scam call. Honestly, it’s horrible that anyone would try to trick people like that. About 10 minutes back, I got a ring from 0300 200 3821. When I picked up, I stayed quiet and the call got cut off. Normally, I’d just block unknown numbers like this, but I thought I’d look it up first. From what people have shared, this number looks connected to HMRC. After reading the comments here, I’m pretty sure it’s dodgy. From what I know, HMRC always contacts you by letter if there’s something important - I’ve never had a call from them personally.

I stayed silent when I picked up, and the phone hung up right away. Funny thing is, when you ring that number back, it seems to lead to the HMRC line, but don’t be fooled. It’s definitely a scam - unless I wanna waste some time locked up waiting for the police to storm in! :-)
