I got a ring from 0300 200 3884 and they left a message on my phone saying - “Good day, this is Lati Fat reaching out from Hesham Ray Venom and Custom. This is regarding your safe assessment record. Kindly get back to us at 0300 200 3820. Make sure you have your UTR or national insurance number handy when you call. Please return the call by 5th March 2026. Thanks.” They really struggled to say HMRC right, which made me suspicious straight away. Also, they wanted me to dial a completely different number to follow up. Definitely felt dodgy!

I got a call from someone who asked for my UTR or social security number, but when I asked what the call was about, they wouldn’t tell me anything. I tried to get more info, but they just said I seemed busy. I asked for a number to ring back, and it turned out it was the exact same number they’d called me on. Didn't feel right at all.

Here we go again! This has been happening for ages. 0300 200 3820 is supposedly from HMRC. I’m not sure exactly how this scam operates but it’s definitely a con. Seems like the HMRC system might have been breached. Under no circumstances should you give them your UTR number or any other details, and absolutely don’t send them any cash!

They say they’re from HMRC and send letters saying I owe loads of money, but when I ring the number, some rude person from Pakistan or Bangladesh answers and demands I pay up straight away. Honestly, this is nuts, the government really needs to sort this out - scams are everywhere these days! Makes me feel really uneasy.

I've been receiving a barrage of intimidating letters lately, all linked to a rebate from HMRC that I've been swindled out of. Currently, I'm in a holding pattern, eagerly awaiting news from HMRC as they look into the disappearance of my rebate. It's been six weeks, and I've already been sent three letters demanding payment for supposedly outstanding amounts. What a right pickle!

I received a rather concerning call that seemed to be directed at my son regarding setting up a payment plan, as he’s in a bit of a pickle with HMRC. The caller requested I ring back at 0300 2003820. However, when I checked the number through 1471, it revealed a slightly different one: 0300 2003884. Quite puzzling, to say the least!

the call came up as private, but they left a voicemail claiming to be from hmrc and asked me to ring 0300 200 3820. After going through loads of prompts and security questions, the person i spoke to had my self assessment info and outstanding amount correct. i even made a small payment on the call and got an immediate email confirmation. now waiting to see if the balance updates on my account soon.

hmre debt collectors are a pain. you totally have the right to only deal with them through letters or emails. with all the mess ups over data safety at hmrc, i reckon keeping everything in writing is the smartest and safest way to go. you dont have to answer calls or meet them face to face, no matter what they say. absolute low lifes.

The number 0300 200 3820 belongs to the HMRC self assessment debt team. HMRC never threatens you with arrest and their calls usually come from private or hidden numbers, so if you see the number, it's unlikely to be them. They call anytime between 8am and 8pm every day. Also, HMRC can ring you unexpectedly if you owe them money.

I got a voicemail from this number about my National Insurance number. The speaker had a pretty thick accent, so I could barely catch what they were saying. But they warned me to get in touch within a day or there’d be some sort of enforcement stuff. The number was 0300 200 3820.

Today, my partner received a call from this number regarding self-assessment, and they insisted he must return the call by 8 o'clock tomorrow. However, when he attempted to call back, he couldn't get through. I gave it a go from my line, only to be greeted by a recorded message. I've heard there have been numerous scams reported today, which seems rather suspicious, don't you think?

I got the same message, saying if you don't press 1 you'll be arrested soon. I'd recommend just hanging up if this number rings you, because if it were the real HMRC they'd probably try to contact you by post or other official means. Also, the voicemail they left didn’t have any personal details like my name or address, or explain why they were calling, which makes me think it’s a scammer trying to trick people out of money.

this number seems fake, like it’s trying to pass off as hmrc. hmrc dont just ring you up random like that. they always send letters first about debts, and you’re supposed to call them back, not the other way around.

Got a call from a bloke who started off with an automated message, saying he was officer number 9856olr. He told me there’s a warrant out for my arrest because of unpaid taxes for the last five years. He threw loads of stuff at me, like my driving licence and passport being flagged, and said I could face a fine of £37,911 if I lose the case. I’m looking into whether any of this is legit, but since I work for a major UK public service and my taxes are deducted automatically, I’m pretty sure everything’s paid up.
