You should send this over to [email protected]. Loads of numbers are getting blocked, but if everyone reports them, they’ll end up blocking more and more. Just keep at it!

They claimed to be with HMRC and warned me about an arrest warrant. Best not to pick up.

It was a bank holiday Monday, so the actual HMRC was closed. The genuine HMRC only contacts you through official letters or emails, never by phone. There’s a scam ring in India using fake UK phone numbers, pretending to be HMRC. They clone numbers and call nonstop, but it’s all fake. These fraudsters use VOIP services like Skype to flood the UK with calls - sometimes as many as 10,000 daily, as reported by the Daily Mail back in March 2019. Just hang up immediately and don’t press any buttons.

What a dreadful scam! Some phoney HMRC caller trying to scare me with threats of arrest and a warrant if I didn’t do what they said. I just had a good chuckle and hung up, but honestly, this sort of thing is really dangerous. People who are more vulnerable could easily get scared by it.
