Got a call at 8:15 in the morning which was a big sign it was dodgy. I picked up but said nothing, they just cut the call straight away. Blocked them after that.

Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC, threatening me that if I don’t press 1, they’d issue a warrant for my arrest and send someone round! Totally false, it’s definitely a scam. They keep switching to new numbers, I’ve blocked at least 4 so far. HMRC would NEVER get in touch like this.

If you haven’t reported it yet, I’d suggest sending all the info about the scam over to [email protected]. Make sure to include stuff like when exactly the call came through, the number you got from dialling 1471 if you managed to catch it, your own phone number, and a short explanation of what the call was about. They claimed to be from HMRC and said I was involved in tax fraud, that I owed £2700 and that I’d been sent loads of letters I never opened. They threatened to send bailiffs to take my money or even my car, and said the police would visit me if I didn’t pay up. Do not trust these calls, just ignore them!!!

Exact scam here. I told the bloke he’d got the Humberside Police CID and we were going to sort out an international arrest warrant for him. He just ended the call straight away.

A lot of the stuff other people are saying here actually happened to me back in 2016. They even threatened to show up at my house with a couple of coppers. I did report them to the police and the tax folks, but it felt pointless because they’re everywhere and keep switching their phone numbers. Cheers for getting in touch again with another one of these dodgy scam warnings. I noticed those sneaky scammers have gone and swapped out the last four digits on the number you gave me before. They’ll struggle to reach me on my landline though, since I disconnected it when I got fibre optic set up last August. And as for my mobile, it’s been off since yesterday lunchtime!
