They said there’s a fraud case in my name and told me to press 1 or else they would issue a warrant for me. Surely people can do something legal against these calls, right? Got a call around 11 this Saturday morning from an automated voice warning me about tax fraud. It didn’t feel right, so I just ended the call. Later, I looked up the number and saw past comments which made me breathe easier. The real HMRC number is 0300 123 2326, but this one (0300 200 3663) was close enough to raise red flags. Didn’t dare call back, figured it’d end up costing me loads! Just a waste of time if you ask me.

Got a call today at about 10:25am from someone claiming to be HMRC, which struck me as odd since they don’t operate on Saturdays. The caller was an Indian lady warning me about an arrest warrant and said I had 15 minutes to sort it out. I ended up ringing the police to check, and they confirmed it was a scam. Now the cops have a record of the number. If they try to ring again, I’m not even gonna pick up, especially after telling them I was involving the police. Don’t think they’ll bother calling back though.
