Got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC, telling me my tax credits account was involved in fraud. They said if I didn’t press 1 to keep the call going, there’d be a warrant out for my arrest possibly as soon as tomorrow. Honestly, it scared me and my heart was racing, but something felt off since I hadn’t received any letters about it. So I just hung up and tried ringing back - turned out, the number was for a bankruptcy accounts department. Pretty odd, really.

This number rang me up claiming I’m linked to some tax fraud and asked me to press 1. I didn’t press anything as it felt dodgy. Later, I contacted BT to see if they could verify the number, but they said all these lines are run by private firms and they couldn’t help. They did mention this site though. Just putting it out there.

Got a call from 03002003771 asking me to press 1. I just ended it straightaway as I’ve heard these sorts of calls are quite dodgy. If it was anything legit, surely they’d send a letter instead of making you press buttons on the phone.

Don’t trust this number, it’s a total scam. I got called twice from this one, plus another very similar one with just a couple different digits. They claimed I was being looked at for tax fraud, which really freaked me out. Even though I had an idea it was a con, it still shook me up quite a bit. I ended up ringing HMRC on their official line to double check, and thankfully they were brilliant and confirmed it was a scam. They even passed the info to Action Fraud. I’m 35 and it really stressed me, can’t imagine the fear it’d cause for older or more vulnerable folks.

If you get a call sayin it's from HMRC, just hang up right away. It's usually a scam, they try to trick you into givin personal info. Legit HMRC won't call you like that, so don’t fall for it.

Apparently, there's this supposed warrant for my arrest and they claim I’m supposed to pay £2600!

This number keeps ringing me but it looks odd so I just ignore it. They never bother to leave a voice mail, which makes me think they probably have no real interest in speaking to me!

I got a call on my phone from 0300 200 3661 claiming to be from HRMC, telling me I had a warrant out for me. They said if I didn’t press 1 to speak to someone, they’d send someone to arrest me. It was a guy’s voice but sounded like one of those automated messages. I just ignored it and let it run until it stopped. Honestly, these scammers are total muppets. They really need to find better things to do with their time.

Total con! Got a call from 03002003658 earlier - exact same number. There’s no way HMRC would leave a voicemail threatening arrest. Definitely just a scam, so I’ve blocked it.

Just a couple hours back, I got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC. They claimed I was part of some tax fraud case and told me if I didn't press 1 to discuss it, they'd send a warrant for my arrest. Foolishly, I hit 1 to talk, but then they suddenly ended the call. It felt dodgy, and I'm pretty sure it was just another HMRC scam.

This number called me saying if I didn’t press 1, the police would come arrest me for not paying taxes for years. That’s ridiculous, I work a normal job and my employer sorts out all my taxes. Fair to say, I didn’t press anything. - caller: 03002003661
