I got that call as well and was quite concerned at first. Luckily I stumbled upon this site and it put my mind at ease. Clearly, it’s a scam trying to fool people. I’m going to contact the HMRC helpline to let them know about these impersonators.

Got a phone call from 0300 200 3667, some guy claiming to be HMRC and saying I had a warrant out against me. I decided to mess with him a bit, just stringing him along. Then he suddenly wanted me to verify my DOB and national insurance number. I just burst out laughing at him and that was the end of the call! - caller: HMRC scammer

Got a call from 0300200366 and it was one of those automated ones saying they were from HMRC. They said there’d been some fraud linked to me and warned me I'd face arrest straight away if I didn’t hit 1. Total scam, I reckon.
