My missus got a call from some bloke pretending to be from HMRC, saying she owed them tax and if she didn’t pay £700 straight away over the phone, she'd get nicked by the cops in an hour. It was obviously a dodgy scam, sounded like a robot talking. We just blocked the number, no way we’re falling for that!

Got a call claiming to be from HMRC about some scam - obviously a load of rubbish. I ended up blocking and deleting the number straight away. It worries me though, cos if someone more vulnerable picked up, they might actually get tricked. Proper dodgy stuff.

This number just phoned my mum, who’s quite elderly. They said she owed money and when she called back, she ended up giving her bank info. Now she’s really worried she’s been tricked. She’s rushed to the bank to try and stop any dodgy transactions but is really shaken up. Definitely one of those HMRC scam calls!

This call could really scare an older or vulnerable person, making them panic and do as they’re told. It’s awful that these people get away with this. I’m definitely going to report it to the police.

Got a call from this number earlier, the person claimed HMRC has me under criminal investigation for tax evasion and says I owe £2600. They threatened an arrest and said there’s a warrant for me. When I requested my NINO details, the caller with a faint American accent refused to provide any info! I ended the call pretty quick and told them they’re trying to scam me. Looked up the number online and yeah, it’s definitely a scam. Sharing this so you’re warned, and if they call you, just block them straight away! 😠

This number 0300 200 3662 rang me two times and it immediately felt dodgy. Naturally, I looked it up online and luckily stumbled upon this forum. Reading through the comments, I’m really relieved I didn’t pick up - fake HMRC calls, no thanks! I’m definitely marking this number as a scam and big thanks to everyone here for sharing their creepy experiences!

I always have my phone set to block calls from numbers I don’t recognise, so I didn’t even answer. I ended up hearing three voicemails, and honestly, like others said, it seems like a really dodgy call. It’d freak out anyone who’s vulnerable for sure. Definitely don’t call back that number, it’s not worth the risk.

Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC, a bloke called James Parker, but with an Indian accent. He said I was under investigation and there was a warrant out for me, which is hilarious. Honestly, these scams are awful, especially if they target someone more vulnerable.

The phone rang and my wife picked up before handing it over to me. I only caught the tail end where they mentioned I was going to be arrested or something like that. Honestly, no clue what that was about, so I just blocked the number 3572 and moved on.

Got a robo call telling me there was some fraud thing with my name, and if I didn’t press a certain button to talk to an officer, they'd send a warrant to arrest me! I just ended the call straight away - fingers crossed I don’t end up in trouble!

β€ͺOn Friday 1st February 2019, I got a call from 0300 200 3662. They asked me to press 1, which I did. Then a bloke with an Indian accent came on and asked my name. I said I was John Lennon. After that, he wanted my postcode, but when I said no, he threatened to send the police round and called me an arse. Pretty sure he had nothing to do with HMRC! What a muppet!

Got one of those HMRC scam calls too, this automated voice said to press 1 to chat with an agent but it sounded like some dodgy American robo call. I ended up talking to a bloke with an Indian accent who wanted my name and address. The moment I told him it seemed like a scam, he just cut the call straight away.

Same here, got a call from that HMRC tax scam asking to press 1. I looked up the number and decided to block it straight away. Its crazy that with all the complaints about this number, nothing has been done to catch them or pass the info to the police. Why isn’t anything being done about it?

I keep getting calls from numbers beginning with 0300 200 36, like 362 or 354. The messages they leave sound really pushy and I'm worried they might scare some people into answering who shouldn't. It definitely feels like some sort of scam and honestly, the police should step in and look into this properly. These numbers need blocking asap.

Got a call earlier and I pressed 1 straight away since I’d just got a letter from HMRC about my business today, so I wasn’t suspicious at first. Then the bloke asked for my postcode and weirdly said ‘S’ like ‘sugar’! That’s when I told him I’d just hang up and call HMRC myself. He quickly dropped the call after that. Blocked the number straight away.

This afternoon around 2:30, my poorly 74-year-old mum got a phone call warning her the police were on their way to arrest her for fraud unless she hit 1. She's really shaken up now, crying and scared. I've marked this as dangerous because my mum has heart issues - these people are utterly heartless!

Haha yeah, looks like they might be about to arrest me or something! What a mad time!

Like others have said, when you get messages from HMRC, don't bother replying or pressing any keys. Unlike some other texts I ignored, these ones could end up costing you because of premium rate calls. If you do reply, you might find an unwanted extra charge on your phone bill. Honestly, just don’t engage with any of these scammy messages. If it turns out to be legit, you'll find out soon enough without stressing over it.

This person said I was under arrest, but I told them I work in law enforcement and then shared their voicemail with my colleagues, joking that we’d be there soon. I’m not an officer myself, but I’ve dealt with this sort of thing before. I kept phoning them every hour for two days, claiming I’d contacted the court. Eventually, the guy shouted that I was stressing him out and threatened to report me for harassment. After that, the calls stopped pretty quickly.

Just got a call from 0300 200 3662 earlier today (Friday). I didn't respond when I picked up, and then the phone just went silent. A couple of days ago on Wednesday, I received a call from 0300 200 3300. When I answered, an automated voice with an American accent said something like, "A fraud investigation has been started against you, and a warrant is out for your arrest." It freaked me out so much that I had a panic attack and had to use my inhaler since I have anxiety and depression. Honestly, this kind of scam is really nasty and could seriously harm people’s mental health.
