Got a call from a bloke who didn’t really speak English properly. Said he was from HMRC and wanted to check if I’d got any letters from them because they’d been trying to contact me. He knew my name and address, which was a bit worrying. When he asked again if I’d received anything, I said no. Then he told me to call the local office, but I declined. When he asked why, I asked him for my NI number. He gave me one, but it wasn’t mine at all. After that, the call cut off unexpectedly.
