I called 0300 200 3100 to inform the child benefit office that my kid was continuing full-time studies after school. So yeah, this number is definitely real and not a scam.

Got a letter with this number on it asking for my self assessment info. They sent a questionnaire and a letter saying things like "you need to" and "I will try to help you" but when HMRC contacts you it’s more like "we will need" and "we will assist you". Looks like a big scam to me. The number is close to the child benefit and self assessment lines too. Proper dodgy!

Got a call claiming to be from HMRC, with a recorded message about a tax warrant and told to hit option 1. I hung up and rang HMRC directly, they said they never show their number when calling and wouldn’t ask for money like that. Blocked the number straight away and added it to my blocklist.

Got a call from 03002003146 saying they were from HMRC. Didn’t realise the Tax Office would be calling on a Saturday morning! Didn’t pick up, but they left a message. I’ll just wait for something in the post instead!

Just got a call from this number. Some automated voice said I’m being charged with tax fraud and there’s an arrest warrant for me because I supposedly owe £367.91 from the years 2009 to 2011. Then they asked if I had any questions, I said no, I’d get some advice first. They mentioned I could pay using a debit card but I declined. They said I’d be receiving a letter from the tax office by the weekend. Seems fishy to me.

I got that exact same American automated voice at 08:02 this morning saying exactly what others mentioned here. Definitely not HMRC. I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number now.

Got a call from someone saying it was HMRC and they had a warrant out for me! Bit dodgy right from the start, the automated voice sounded super American, not what I’d expect from HMRC. I've gone ahead and blocked the number now.

I got a call like that yesterday too. They said I was being looked into for fraud and there was a warrant for my arrest. Then they said I could talk to a policeman by pressing 1. Of course, I didn’t press it. Being retired and all, I’m glad I still know what’s what. I worry that others might fall for it though.

03002003100 just rang me with an automated message claiming to be from HMRC, saying there was a warrant for my arrest. I pressed a button to speak to someone, but it sounded like an Indian call centre. I asked for some proof of who they were, then they put me on hold and eventually connected me to someone. Definitely seemed dodgy!

I called them back like they asked and they told me I have a warrant out for unpaid taxes. I ended up speaking with a really nice woman who said it’s all a big SCAM. This started about a couple weeks ago and they don’t know why it’s happening, told me not to stress. What really bugs me though is, how on earth did these scammers even get my number to call me in the first place???

This number is supposed to be from HMRC but it's been compromised. HMRC told me they never call up asking for personal info or telling you you owe them cash.

I received a call today, 16th November 2018, at around 16:24 from a number claiming to be from customs and excise. They mentioned that there had been a complaint filed against me and they were investigating it further. They urged me to return the call to discuss it with someone. Should I take the risk and call them back, or would it be wiser to simply ignore it and wait to see how things unfold?

so hmrc, or the tax office as most people call it, is the uk gov dept that sorts out taxes all over the country. they make sure businesses and self-employed folks pay up on their income, otherwise you get hit with fines or even jail time. lovely stuff, really!
