Got two calls last night, some robotic voice talking but I couldn't make out a word. I just kept quiet and then it said it would remove me from its list or something?

These folks are nothing but opportunistic leeches. When they ring me, I either let them know I've already got things sorted or spin a ridiculous yarn designed to throw them off the scent. For instance, I concocted this elaborate tale about how I mowed someone down on a pedestrian crossing and then got rear-ended by another vehicle. I even threw in a line about telling the officer that I’d only had a couple of drinks! Haha! If they manage to catch you on the phone, make sure to ask for their company name-chances are, it’s a fabrication! And definitely press them for their Ministry of Justice registration number; they’re supposed to be regulated in order to make these calls! They tend to ring after you’ve shared some details online regarding insurance, and it’s quite clear that your information has been passed around without your consent. It’s all rather infuriating, to say the least!

I told them to call back in 15 mins coz I was busy working. I know these numbers well, had to block loads of similar ones. Usually I just hang up or mess with them, like say I’m deaf or start talking in Welsh lol. They’re all spammy scammers and just wanna cheat you out of money, so never share any info. For anyone fed up with scam calls on their landline, I’d suggest getting the BT Guardian. Like they say, it stops all unwanted calls, and if you do miss one, you can block it afterwards. Really handy gadget.

As soon as I picked up, the call was cut off. When I tried ringing back, the number didn’t seem to exist. I’m guessing it’s a scammer. I’ve blocked it on my phone now.
