It’s so frustrating! They keep calling trying to push all sorts of stuff - insurance, energy deals, you name it. And no matter how many times I ask, they won’t take my number off their list. I wish there was a way to block them properly.

Just got a call from 02038965112, left a voicemail with a weird American accent, urgent to call back straight away. When I rang them back, they claimed to be from HMRC saying they’d frozen my National Insurance over some criminal case about drug dealing and money laundering. I told them I wanted to talk to the police instead. They kept pushing, asking why I was scared if I’m innocent and said the police were on their way. I ended the call there. Definitely reporting this to Action Fraud.

Got a creepy voicemail from this number, it was some robotic voice warning me to call back or else "deal with the consequences". Proper freaked me out.

Had a call from 0203 896 5107 the other day, some woman on the phone saying I owed a massive amount in taxes and needed to get a solicitor sorted. While chatting, I quickly looked up the number online and told her straight up it looked like a scam. She just told me to “go on, hang up then.” Tried ringing the number back later and it’s already been cut off. Looks like they got shut down, but I bet they’ll just switch to a different phone number soon enough.

It was Officer Jean Baker who said I needed to call back, otherwise I’d get arrested. Really scary stuff.

I gave the number a ring and it kept saying it wasn’t a valid one, so honestly, I haven’t a clue what’s going on. My advice? Just leave it alone, don’t bother with it.

Got a voicemail that claimed to be from the Tax Office, saying something like, "If you or your lawyers don't get back to us, legal action will follow." Totally unprofessional and way too over the top to be legit - no doubt a scam.

Legit HMRC never rings you up - they always get in touch by post or email, no exceptions. The genuine HMRC number 03002003300 is only used by us when calling them, not the other way round. If you get a call from this number, it’s a scam, so best to block it straight away.

Don’t just block or ignore scam calls, it doesn’t help at all and actually pleases the scammers. What they really dread is when every single call gets reported to the police through the Action Fraud website. Just search ‘Action Fraud’ on Google, go to the police.uk page, hit the report button and tell them about the scam attempt. If you accidentally got caught out, definitely report it as a crime and contact your bank immediately if you shared any card or bank info. It’s only by reporting every scam call that real action can be taken.
